SERIE A ROUND 2

BATISTUTA SENDS ROMA TOP

Gabriel Batistuta's brace sends Roma top of the league alongside Juve, the
only other team with a 100% record. A controversial winner deep into injury
time denies Milan a point away to Bologna. Seedorf inspires Inter to their
first win under new coach Marco Tardelli and Parma's poor start continues
as they can only manage a goal-less draw away to Brescia.

15 OCTOBER 2000

BOLOGNA 2-1 MILAN
Bia 19 Shevchenko 61
Piacentini 95

Bologna's early pressure paid off when Milan's defence went to sleep on a
free kick allowing Bia to control the ball and pick his spot. Milan rallied
and wasted several chances before Shevchenko headed in Jose Mari's cross.
Giunti was sent off for a second bookable offence. Boban took Nervo to the
cleaners on the wing with his trademark step on the ball and back heel
trick, stuck a cross into the box, Pagliuca dropped the ball, Shevchenko's
shot was blocked and Albertini smashed the ball past Pagliuca. Ok he didn't
but I still can't believe Pagliuca managed to save his shot. In the 5th minute
of injury time Piacentini controlled the ball with his hand before unleashing a
shot past Abbiati.

Assists : Wome, Jose Mari
Red Card : Giunti 76 (Milan)
Attendance : 36,000

BRESCIA 0-0 PARMA

Milosevic had a goal disallowed for offside and then chandelled in the
opposition box. The best chance fell to Fuser. The pressure is already on
Malesani and with Lippi available Tanzi's patience will be wearing thin.

Attendance : 12,000

FIORENTINA 2-1 REGGINA
Nuno Gomes 86 Marazzina 68
Leandro 90

Taibi made a phenomenal save to deny Torricelli a certain goal. Reggina
scored with their first attack, Da Costa supplying the cross for Marazzina to
head in off the post although Toldo's positioning has to be questioned. After
making such a great save Taibi then did his trademark piss the points down
the toilet job. Nuno Gomes got on the end of Rui Costa's teasing cross, the
ball hit Taibi and he pathetically fell into the net. He then stood at the
far post on a corner, Leandro headed straight at him yet Taibi still got
nowhere near the ball. Downright embarrassing. I'm certain Di Livio has had
a hair transplant.

Assists : De Rosa, Rui Costa (x2)
Attendance : 27,000

JUVENTUS 2-0 BARI
Kovacevic 3
Zidane 90 (Pen)

Another assist from Zidane! A superbly weighted cross finished off by Kovacevic.
Cassano, who is expected to join Juve next season, wasted a one on one with
Van Der Sar following what is becoming an all too frequent mistake by Ferrara.
Neqrouz and Pessotto should have been sent off for murder attempts on Davids
and Innocenti respectively. Zidane converted a penalty awarded for a rugby
tackle on Conte in the box.

Assists : Zidane, Conte

VERONA 1-1 UDINESE
Gilardino 50 Muzzi 60

Muzzi hammered a shot against the inside of a post, the ball hit 'keeper
Ferron in the face and went out for a corner. Verona also struck the post.
Gilardino gave Verona the lead with a cool finish, lifting the ball over Turci
from close range. Verona should have been awarded a penalty for handball.
Muzzi bounced Gargo's header off his shoulder, turned and volleyed past
Ferron. Sosa missed two glorious chances to win the match.

Assists : Salvetti, Gargo
Attendance : 13,000

VICENZA 1-2 ATALANTA
Toni 52 Doni 68
							Rossini 80

Both teams created and wasted literally a dozen or so chances in a match
played on a horrid pitch. Toni diverted Rossi's shot past Fontana. Kallon and
Toni missed two 100% chances before Atalanta hit back. Doni, who will join
Milan next season, headed in the equaliser from a free kick. Damiano Zenoni
stole a ball in midfield and fed Rossini who made the most of non marking to
score the winner.

Assists : Rossi, Carrera, D Zenoni
Attendance : 14,000

LECCE 0-4 ROMA
							Batistuta 42, 80
							Tommasi 47
							Totti 90 (Pen)

Batistuta headed in Cafu's cross although I wish he hadn't as Totti was
lining up an overhead kick. Tommasi punished Lecce for failing to clear a
cross with a well struck low drive. Batistuta did his 'Arsenal finish', a
powerful shot high into the net from a tightish angle. Totti converted a
harshly awarded penalty. A slightly flattering scoreline for Roma. Lecce
played well in the first half before caving in.

Assists : Cafu, Candela, Delvecchio
Red Card : Savino 89 (Lecce)

14 OCTOBER 2000

LAZIO 3-0 PERUGIA
Crespo 44
Mihajlovic 68 (Pen)
S Inzaghi 78

Crespo headed against the post. Nedved sent two defenders crashing to the
floor with a superb dummy and had the entire goal to aim at but hit the
crossbar. Crespo opened his Lazio account with a header from Mihajlovic's
corner. Materazzi creamed Nedved in the box, Mihajlovic converted the
penalty. Inzaghi drilled a low shot inside the post following good work by
Nedved and Claudio Lopez.

Assists : Mihajlovic, Nedved, Claudio Lopez

INTER 3-1 NAPOLI
Di Biagio 9 Sesa 60
Zamorano 37
Blanc 45

Di Biagio headed in Seedorf's corner. The Dutchman had already gone close to
scoring in the opening minutes. Coppola attempted to save a free kick, Baldini
got in his way and handled the ball, before anyone could claim a penalty
Zamorano poked in the rebound. Blanc ran from the halfway line, played a
one-two with Seedorf, destroyed Coppola with an outrageous dummy - he
touched the ball to Coppola's left and ran from the right before tapping into
an empty net!,fantastic goal! Seedorf deflected Sesa's free kick past Frey.

Time will tell if this was one of the five great games Seedorf seems to have
every season.

Assists : Seedorf (x2)
