SERIE A ROUND 20

25 FEBRUARY 2001

JUVENTUS 3-0 MILAN
Tudor 9
Inzaghi 67
Zidane 91

Maldini sent Del Piero's header straight to Tacchinardi, he played the ball
back to Del Piero and Tudor rose above Sala to head his cross past Abbiati.
Van der Sar made a spectacular save from Leonardo's bullet low header.
Inzaghi wasted a great chance from Del Piero's free kick. Shevchenko created
an opening for himself with some clever ball juggling on the edge of the
box but Davids stole the ball off his feet as he was about to shoot.

Good news for Milan in the second half with an injury to donkey Helveg.
Inzaghi played a one-two with Tacchinardi, Tacchinardi crossed from the right
flank, Roque Junior missed the ball, Inzaghi slipped as he shot but managed
to recover to score Juve's second. Zambrotta pulled down Del Piero's
delightful pass with his right foot and volleyed with his left but Abbiati
saved. Zidane carried the ball from the half-way line, played a one-two with
Kovacevic and hit the return pass first time, lifting the ball over Abbiati
into the net. Awesome finish.

Del Piero is approaching the stellar form of two seasons again. Zidane
continues to show a degree of consistency that has been lacking during his
time at Juventus. Great link-up play between all the forwards. Milan
completely suck.

Assists : Del Piero, Tacchinardi, Kovacevic

BOLOGNA 2-1 NAPOLI
Signori 24 (Pen), 87 Edmundo 35

Signori converted a penalty awarded when Maresca was fouled in the box.
Edmundo played a one-two with Belucci, ran from the half way line and
equalised with a crisp shot inside the post. Padalino launched a ball deep
from defence upto Signori and, having earlier missed decent half chances,
made no mistake.

Attendance : 28,000
Assists : Maresca, Belucci, Padalino

INTER 2-1 UDINESE
Blanc 18 Sosa 15
Ferrante 89

Vieri and Frey were missing for Inter and it was a goalkeeping mistake which
gave Udinese the lead. Margiotta swung a cross into the box and Ballotta
managed to let Sosa's tame shot slip under his body. Blanc scored an
immediate equaliser, heading in Recoba's corner. Diaz brilliantly controlled
a long ball with the outside of his foot and centered for Sosa but the
Argentinean completely missed the ball. Di Biagio blew two 100% chances, the
first from Zanetti's centre and the second from the penalty spot. Cordoba
flicked on a corner and Ferrante, on as a substitute, scored his first ever
goal for Inter.

Attendance : 40,000
Red Card : Tardelli 80 (coach, Inter)
Assists : Recoba, Margiotta, Cordoba

LAZIO 5-3 VERONA
Poborsky 13 Camoranesi 47
Crespo 40, 75, 91 Gilardino 64
Nedved 50 Cossato 84

Crespo miss-controlled a cross, Poborsky ran onto the loose ball, flicked it
up before Seric could clear and volleyed past Ferron, fantastic
goal. Veron launched a long ball into the box, Oddo kicked it straight to
Favalli and Crespo tapped in his centre.

Marchegiani came on for the injured Peruzzi at the start of the second
half. Muta sprayed the ball wide to Camoranesi but instead of crossing the
ball into the box the midfielder sent an awesome half volley screaming into
the net. Incredible goal, almost certainly the goal of the season. Laursen
inadvertently helped on Crespo's pass, straight to Nedved who restored
Lazio's two goal lead. Melis earned a second yellow for charging down
Veron's free kick. Gilardino bundled Mutu's cross over the line though
Pancaro got a touch, 3-2. Nedved and Crespo combined to score Lazio's
fourth but Verona pulled another goal back when Cossato headed in
Colucci's free kick. Crespo completed his hat-trick from close range
when Lopez, back from a long injury lay off, helped on Castroman's cross.

Lazio's football and form has improved greatly under Zoff but their
defending has been awful. I don't think anyone will mind if the matches
are this pulsating.

Attendance : 45,000
Red Card : Melis 53 (Verona)
Assists : Crespo, Favalli, Mutu, Nedved, Colucci, Lopez

LECCE 2-1 REGGINA
Balleri 14 Cozza 28
Lucarelli 72

Lecce had already gone close on two occasions before Balleri gave them the
lead. The defender scored his first Round A goal in something like three
seasons, timing his run to perfection to slam in Tonetto's centre. Savino
should have been sent off for hauling down Dionigi as he raced onto a
hospital pass. Dionigi flicked on Mamede's cross, Cozza controlled the ball
on his thigh and volleyed past Chimenti, great finish.

Lucarelli went down clutching his face following minimal contact from
Oshadagon and the defender went one better with a farcical piece of
playacting after Taibi pushed him in the face. You could argue that the ref
should have booked both but at least he didn't award a penalty or send off
Taibi. Ingesson helped on a cross and Lucarelli brilliantly turned Oshadagon
before smashing the ball into the net.

Taibi has been excellent this season.

Attendance : 13,000
Assists : Tonetto, Dionigi, Ingesson

PARMA 5-0 PERUGIA
Torrisi 13
Milosevic 33, 85
Di Vaio 60
Amoroso 73 (Pen)

The director missed Parma's first so I won't know what happened until
next Saturday.

Micoud turned the ball back into the box after Di Vaio's shot rebounded
off the post and Milosevic beat Mazzantini. A rare error from Mazzantini
gifted Di Vaio Parma's third, he flew off his line to block a cross but
the ball hit his heels. Vryzas and Saudati combined to create a great
opening for Tedesco but he volleyed high over the bar. Amoroso converted
a penalty won by Milosevic and the Yugoslavian striker scored his fourth
Round A goal by latching onto a loose ball, dummying a defender, rounding
Mazzantini and tapping into an empty net! Admittedly he had help from
Amoroso after the Brazilian caused panic in the Perugia defence with a
penetrating run, leaving several bodies in his wake.

Attendance : 18,000
Assists : ?, Micoud, Milosevic

VICENZA 0-2 ROMA
							Montella 80
							Emerson 83

The only noteworthy chance of the first half came from Cafu's free
kick - Samuel headed wide. Delvecchio was booked for diving in
the box which was ironic given Toni had went down twice in the first half.
Even more ironic then when the ref turned down a penalty for a foul on,
yes Toni. Former Roma goalkeeper Sterchele made a great close range save
from Cafu and Montella hit the post from the rebound. Zauli became the
second player to be booked for diving. Delvecchio pressed a Vicenza player
into losing the ball and Montella took a short run before unleashing a
30yd missile past Sterchele. Emerson punished awful defending to make the
game safe.

Roma are a typical Capello side. Not good to watch but excellent at
grinding out results.

Attendance : 11,000

24 FEBRUARY 2001

FIORENTINA 2-2 BRESCIA
Chiesa 23 Baggio 5, 67
Nuno Gomes 63

Hubner turned provider, picking out Baggio with a superb cross, Toldo
blocked Baggio's header, Vanoli fell on the ball and Baggio stuck his foot under
Vanoli's legs to score a long overdue first goal of the season. Someone must
have been watching the past week's champions league matches as a piece
of classy inter-play between Rui Costa and Nuno Gomes gave Chiesa
the opening for the equaliser. Nuno Gomes tapped in a rebound. Baggio
had claims for a penalty turned down but Baggio equalised with one
of his trademark free kicks.

Assists : Nuno Gomes, ?

ATALANTA 0-0 BARI

Nothing to see here.
