SERIE A ROUND 25

9 APRIL 2001

FIORENTINA 3-1 ROMA
Chiesa 11, 81 Emerson 29
Candela 57 (og)

Chiesa opened the scoring with a superb free kick. Emerson equalised shortly
after from Totti's corner. Candela beat Bressan to Moretti's cross but headed
past his own 'keeper. Roma had two efforts cleared off the line. Toldo made
a stunning point blank save from Batistuta. Chiesa gave his team some much
needed breathing space with a brilliant volley. Di Livio cleared another shot
off the line.

I don't think Roma could have played any better, really this was not a case
of cracking under the pressure or anything like that. Roma just couldn't
break their way through a team that defended like men possessed.

Assists : Moretti, Totti, Amoroso

8 APRIL 2001

INTER 1-1 VICENZA
Recoba 93 Kallon 30

Toni helped on Sommese's cross and Kallon beat Frey from close range. Vieri's
header was cleared off the line. Ferrante and Vieri wasted a hat-trick of
chances including an absolute sitter. In the third minute of injury time
Inter were awarded a free kick for handball. Recoba's effort cannoned off the
wall past Sterchele.

Attendance : 50,082
Assist : Toni

BOLOGNA 3-2 PERUGIA
Locatelli 7 Tedesco 6, 18
Cipriani 45
Olive 76

Tedesco pulled down Liverani's long ball and chipped Pagliuca. The lead
lasted barely a minute. Locatelli latched onto Materazzi's headed clearance
and sent a right foot shot past Tardioli. Tedesco headed in a second from
Ahn's corner kick with a tremendous leap at the far post. Cipriani equalised
on the stroke of half time with a brilliant overhead kick. Horrible marking
allowed Olive in for the winner. He didn't seem to thrilled having scoring
against his former club.

Attendance : 22,000
Assists : Liverani, Ahn, Lima

BRESCIA 4-0 REGGINA
A Filippini 33
Petruzzi 47
Baggio 73 (Pen)
Tare 91

This was the Roberto Baggio show. He slipped in Antonio Filippini with a
disguised pass, Filippini's first touch took him away from Taibi and he
slotted into the net. Petruzzi headed in Baggio's chipped cross. Diana took a
tumble in the box, guess who played him in with a perfect pass? Baggio
converted and Tare wrapped up Brescia's biggest win of the season in injury
time.

Attendance : 13,000
Red Card : Marrazina 68 (Reggina)
Assists : Baggio (x2), Diana, Esposito

LECCE 0-2 ATALANTA
							Ventola 69
							Morfeo 80

Lecce blew half a dozen first half chances. In the second half Atalanta woke
up. Chimenti made a brilliant save from Ventola. Berretta had a shot cleared
off the line. Ventola put away Morfeo's pass. Morfeo rounded Chimenti and
scored the second.

Attendance : 12,324
Assist : Morfeo, Berretta

NAPOLI 0-0 MILAN

Shevchenko got Fresi sent off with a dive outside the box. Coco wasted a
great chance in a crowded penalty area. Edmundo was un-mercilessly booed
when he was substituted in the second half. Fontana made a fantastic save
from Bierhoff's header. Pecchia blew the best chance of the match - put clean
through by Moriero.

Rossi was again preferred in goal to Abbiati. I don't think Abbiati is
injured.

Attendance : 40,000
Red Card : Fresi 42 (Napoli)

UDINESE 2-0 BARI
Fiore 1
Muzzi 93

Granted conceding a goal in the first minute isn't exactly a good start but
when you have one of the worst attacks in Round A the match is basically
over. Jorgensen rolled the ball into the box and Fiore arrived to shoot past
Gillet. Bari went close with from a couple of set pieces. Muzzi tapped in a
rebound deep into injury time.

Attendance : 16,000
Assist : Jorgensen

VERONA 0-1 JUVENTUS
							Del Piero 47 (Pen)

Van der Sar launched a goal kick to Inzaghi, he got in front of Apolloni,
Apolloni foolishly, stupidly, got his arms around Inzaghi, he fell and Del
Piero converted the penalty. Apolloni got a second yellow for fouling
Inzaghi. Del Piero screwed up what should have been a routine pass late in
the second half to Kovacevic, who was through on goal.

Attendance : 15,924
Red Card : Apolloni 68
Assist : Inzaghi

LAZIO P-P PARMA

Postponed due to a water logged pitch.
