SERIE A ROUND 26

14 APRIL 2001

JUVENTUS 3-1 INTER
Tacchinardi 51 Vieri 66 (Pen)
Inzaghi 54
Blanc 63 (og)

Zanetti charged down David's cross but the ball only got as far as the edge
of the box - Tacchinardi arrived and smashed it into the net. Inzaghi then
showed off a new trick. Confronted by Ferrari in the box he ran past him,
using his shirt for leverage and then shot inside the post. Blanc deflected
a Del Piero effort into his own net and Vieri pulled a goal back from the
penalty spot.

Assists : Del Piero, Vieri

ATALANTA 0-1 PARMA
							Milosevic 28

Milosevic won the match with a goal Ronaldo would have been proud of. With
a brilliant first touch he took all the pace off Thuram's pass and then
flicked the ball under Bellini's legs before heading for goal. He tormented
Carrera before lifting the ball over Pelizzoli into the bottom corner of the
net. This ranks alongside Toni's second against Parma as the best goal in
Round A this season. Mboma almost scored another contender for goal of the
season but his mid-air volley (like Di Canio's goal last season) flashed just
wide of the post.

Attendance : 18,000
Assist : Thuram

BARI 0-1 NAPOLI
							Jankulovski 87

All the drama came in the closing minutes. Jankulovski played a one-two with
Fresi and slotted the ball into the bottom corner. Osmanovski header over
from close range. Cassano missed an absolute sitter when Pineda failed to deal
with a long ball over the top. Cassano pathetically tried to hide his
embarrassment by feigning injury.

Attendance : 7,000
Assist : Fresi

BRESCIA 1-0 VERONA
Baggio 22

A classic Baggio free kick pulled Brescia further away from relegation
troubles. Baggio and Pirlo's private duel to see who could create the most
chances for Hubner was in vain as Springsteen kept missing. Srnicek made a
brilliant save to deny Baggio a second goal and he also went agonisingly
close with a free kick. Camoranesi was sent off for elbowing Alessandro
Filippini. Bonazzoli had Verona's only chances, both headers. Hubner missed
an open goal. Gonella was sent off for verbal abuse.

Attendance : 13,000
Assist : Bachini
Red Card : Camoranesi 64 (Verona), Gonella 93 (Verona)

FIORENTINA 2-0 LECCE
Chiesa 5, 78

Chiesa's free kick took a wicked deflection off Savino and wrong footed
Chimenti. A brilliant save denied Chiesa a second free kick goal. Giorgetti
crashed a shot against the post. Chiesa received Leandro's pass, drove at
goal, turned Viali inside out and lashed the ball into the roof of the net.

A second successive win for new coach Henry Mancini.

Attendance : 28,000
Assist : Leandro

MILAN 3-0 UDINESE
Kaladze 9
Serginho 33
Shevchenko 72

Kaladze gave Milan the lead with a deflected effort from a free kick.
Serginho's left wing cross evaded everyone including Jose Mari and Shevchenko
on it's way into the top corner. Serginho and Bierhoff combined for Milan's
third though it was really all Shevchenko - he turned Fiore and Walem inside
the box before sweeping the ball past Turci.

Attendance : 45,000
Assist : Kaladze

REGGINA 0-2 LAZIO
							Crespo 16, 70

Simeone and Crespo combined for both goals. The first a brilliant finish
from close range and the second following a determined, powerful 50yd run
on the counter attack by Simeone. Simeone curled a shot against the post.
Crespo wasted two good chances to claim a hat-trick. Veron should have been
sent off for jumping on Caneira's back.

Attendance : 23,200
Assists : Simeone (x2)

ROMA 2-2 PERUGIA
Totti 53 Baiocco 44
Rivalta 92 (og) Saudati 77

Perugia should have been awarded a penalty when Zago shoved Materazzi
down in the box. If the ref saw it, it was a definite red card. I can't remember
the last I saw such a blatant foul. Batistuta missed an open goal. Mazzantini
made an awesome save from Samuel's header and then pulled off one of the
most spectacular saves I have ever seen, a back breaking one handed stop
from Cafu's ferocious drive then he made a double block on Delvecchio and
Totti. From absolutely nowhere Perugia took the lead through Baiocco's
stunning 30yd drive. Totti equalised with another bolt out of the blue, sending
a low drive inside the post. Batistuta and Cafu blew two great chance. Antonioli
dropped the ball at Saudati's feet and he tapped into an empty net. Montella
wasted another great chance. Deep into injury time a melee in the box
eventually saw the ball bounce off Rivalta past his own 'keeper.

Attendance : 61,120
Assists : ?, Cafu

VICENZA 4-2 BOLOGNA
Toni 37 Bia 65 (Pen)
Kallon 42, 88 Brioschi 84
Sommese 57

Toni volleyed Vicenza into the lead from Sommese's corner. The giant striker,
who recently signed a pre-contract with Inter, brilliantly pulled down
Cardone's header and released Kallon with a superb defence splitting
pass, Kallon rounded Pagliuca and tapped into an empty net.

Toni centred for Sommese to score the third before Bologna hit back. Bia
converted a penalty awarded for a 'foul' on Cruz. Brioschi poked in Maresca's
free kick. Sterchele launched a goal kick downfield, the entire Bologna
defence sprung their offside trap on the halfway line only Kallon wasn't
offside and from 30yds he lobbed the ball over Pagliuca. Great finish,
crap defending.

Attendance : 15,000
Red Card : Castellini 55 (Bologna)
Assists : Sommese, Toni (x2), Sterchele, Cruz, Maresca
