under a hail of goals.
28 APRIL 2002
ATALANTA 2-1 PERUGIA
Blasi 36 (og) Tedesco 15
Tedesco punished poor defending from a left wing cross to give Perugia the lead.
Beretta's cross took a wicked deflection off Blasi leaving Cordoba wrong footed.
Zauri latched onto a loose pass in midfield, strode forward and smacked a right
foot shoot into the net. Brilliant goal. Zauri struck the crossbar with a tremendous
drive late on.
Attendance : 15,000
BOLOGNA 2-0 LAZIO
Zauli chipped the ball into the box, Signori got in front of Nesta(!) and tapped
the ball past Peruzzi. Falcone was sent off for bringing down Lopez when he was
clean through on goal. Pancaro should have seen red for a horrendous foul on
Signori. Pecchia scored a fantastic solo goal two minutes from time. He ran
30yds, cut inside the box and whipped the ball inside the post.
Attendance : 28,000

FIORENTINA 1-2 PARMA
Adriano 4 Di Vaio 81, 90
Adriano took a pass from Mijatovic and side-stepped Benarrivo before drilling
the ball into the net. Parma could have scored 10 goals, and I'm not
exaggerating, before Di Vaio finally beat 18 year old Cassano in Fiorentina's
goal with a tap-in after De Agostini's stupid clearance hit Bonazzoli and fell at
his feet. Di Vaio should have been sent off for first grabbing Fedeli by the throat
then pulling his hair. He scored his second with a violent strike from Junior's
Amazing performance by Cassano for Fiorentina. Make a note of his name.
Attendance : 5,000
Assists : Mijatovic, Bonazzoli, Junior
INTER 3-1 PIACENZA
Cordoba 7 Matuzalem 35
Cordoba made a brilliant block to deny Hubner and scored at the other end with a
spectacular scissor kick after Castelazzi had saved from Sorondo. Inter created and
wasted a hat-full of chances, Vieri in particular guilty of some bad misses.
Matuzalem scored with a curling first time shot from Hubner's clever lay-off.
Tosto cleared a Ronaldo shot off the line. Sommese earned a second yellow
for charging down a Recoba free kick. Recoba tried again and this time hit the
target with an incredible shot. Piacenza should have been awarded a penalty
when Gresko hauled down Gautieri. Ronaldo curled in another brilliant free kick.
Vieri tried to make it a hat-trick but got nowhere near with his effort.
Attendance : 75,000
Assists : Hubner, Recoba (won free kick)
Red Cards : Sommese 69 (Piacenza), Matuzalem 80 (Piacenza)
JUVENTUS 5-0 BRESCIA
Trezeguet 8, 75, 89
Del Piero 71, 80
Trezeguet headed in a Del Piero corner. Bonera earned a second yellow for a
rash challenge on Del Piero. Trezeguet scored a second from a Nedved cross.
Davids took a pass on the half way line, did a Bergkamp style double dragback
before charging forward and slipping in Del Piero who was left with an easy
finish. Best goal of the match. Nedved and Tudor combined to give Trezeguet
Baggio played and did nothing. Brescia are in serious trouble.
Attendance : 50,000
Assists : Del Piero (corner), Del Piero (won free kick), Nedved, Davids, Tudor
Red Card : Bonera 59 (Brescia)
LECCE 1-2 UDINESE
Giacomazzi 69 Di Michele 55,
Di Michele received the ball with his back to goal, turned his marker, jinked
past two players and rolled the ball into the bottom corner. Giacomazzi
equalised with an excellent flick header from Tonetto's cross. Di Michele won
and converted a late penalty.
Attendance : 10,100
Assists : Pinzi, Tonetto, Di Michele (won penalty)
ROMA 5-0 CHIEVO
Montella 25, 33, 51 (Pen)
Emerson helped on Cafu's corner and Montella headed over Chimenti. Delvecchio
missed an open goal before Montella scored from another corner. Collina gave
Roma a penalty for a foul on Batistuta and Montella completed his hat-trick.
had a goal wrongly disallowed for not crossing the line. Emerson ran 50yds
from the left flank into the box, took out the Chievo defence with a superb
dummy, held off Legrottaglie and fired past Chimenti. Fantastic goal. Cassano
tapped in after Chimenti spilled a Batistuta free kick.
Attendance : 82,000
Assists : Emerson, Cafu (corner), Batistuta (won pen), Aldair
VENEZIA 1-1 TORINO
Maniero 7 (Pen) Galante 92
Maniero won himself a penalty after a non foul by Fattori. He stroked the ball
home and, as usual, didn't bother to celebrate. Franco headed Comotto's cross
against the post, the ball fall to Ferrante and he did the same thing. The ref
evened the score in the second half when he gifted Toro a penalty. Guess
what Ferrante did? Hit the post! And guess what he did minutes later from
Asta's cross? Hit the crossbar! Garcia's wicked free kick bounced off the....
post and off the crossbar! Toro were awarded another penalty and this time
it was legit. Ferrante's shot was saved, his follow-up was also saved and a
defender blocked his third attempt. Rossi blocked a shot from Asta, he knocked
the ball back to Maspero who chipped it forward and Galante scored, in off the
post! The moral of this match is live by the post, die by post or the postman
always knocks twice or bollocks to the post, use e-mail!
There was a riot at the end of the match.
Attendance : 6,900
Assists : Maniero (won penalty)
VERONA 1-2 MILAN
Mutu 28 Inzaghi 65
Mutu ran at the Milan defence, skipped past a challenge from Kaladze and
bent the ball inside the post from 25yds. Serginho curled a free kick against
the post, Ferron made a superb save to deny Inzaghi on the rebound. Kaladze
won Milan a penalty but Serginho bent the ball against the outside of a post.
Inzaghi volleyed Milan level from Kaladze's excellent 50yd pass. Kaladze hit
a short disguised pass into the box, Pirlo rounded Ferron and tapped into an
