SERIE A ROUND 23

Juve Spank Inter, Milan In Six Goal Thriller

2 March 2003

JUVENTUS 3-0 INTER
Guly 4 (og)
Nedved 34
Camoranesi 83

Nedved swung a free kick into the box Toldo punched the ball out, it hit Guly and bounced
into the net. Di Vaio charged down Cannavaro as he tried to send the ball into Juve's half,
the ball bounced up into the box, Trezeguet volleyed wide. Recoba went close with a long
range effort, well as close as Inter got all match. Nedved made it 2-0 with a superb 30yd
strike. Trezeguet headed on a long ball to Nedved, he surged down the wing and Camoranesi
fired his deflected cross into the roof of the net.

Not much else to say about this incredibly one sided affair. Juve treated Inter like jobbers.
There's no way Inter are going to win Serie A this year, not with sorry displays like this one.
Crespo is their only hope.

Assists : Thuram

CHIEVO 3-2 TORINO
Pellisier 27 Sommese 16
Cossato 59 Donati 38
D'Anna 61

Ferrante pulled down a long ball and chipped it wide to Sommese and he volleyed past
Lupatelli, nice finish but not a patch on the second goal. Pellisier chested down a long pass
and hit an incredible dipping shot under the crossbar. The visitors were back in front
10 minutes later. Sommese lobbed a ball into the box, Donati side stepped Moro and rolled
the ball into the corner. Cossato equalised with a tap-in after Perrotta's shot was deflected
against the post. D'Anna injured himself following a clash of heads with Comotto but he
managed to score.

Assists : Ferrante, Mensah, Sommese

MILAN 3-3 ATALANTA
Inzaghi 34, 79 Maldini 1 (og)
Tomasson 70 Rossini 29, 30

Maldini gave Atalanta the lead when he sliced a throw in into his own net. He was lucky
not to concede a penalty when he manhandled Rossini as the striker tried to attack a
cross, Rossini kept his balance and fired a scissor kick past Dida, brilliant goal. A minute
late Atalanta were in Nirvana. Doni skipped past the Milan defence, chipped the ball
to the back post and Rossini headed home, 0-3. Milan responded immediately. Seedorf
flicked Rui Costa's pass to Inzaghi, he turned his marker brilliantly before finding
the bottom corner. He could have scored a second minutes later when he dragged a
back heel just wide. Inzaghi won a penalty, Rivaldo took it, the ball bounced off the inside
of the post and rolled to safety. Aside from a classic Dabo piledriver in the second half
it was all Milan. Inzaghi was fouled as he attacked a Helveg cross, Tomasson latched onto
the ball, jinked past Taibi and tapped into an empty net. Rui Costa floated a delightful
cross into the box, Inzaghi broke from the defence to head Milan level. A fantastic
save by Taibi denied Rivaldo late on.

Another classic display of testicular fortitude by Milan. Full credit to Atalanta for taking
the game to Milan, in the first half at least.

Assists : Gautieri, Doni, Seedorf, Inzaghi, Rui Costa

PERUGIA 2-2 LAZIO
Ze Maria 13 (Pen) Corradi 16
Grosso 42 Negro 85

Two bloody marvellous adverts before this match. The first starring Batistuta who grins
like an idiot (understandably so) while a stunning brunette who looks like Denise Richards
strips and another for a whirlpool bath featuring 70% nudity. Football and T & A, what
more could you ask for?

Tedesco conned the ref into awarding a penalty with a blatant dive. Ze Maria converted.
Corradi equalised when Ferron came up for a corner and completely missed the ball.
Oddo, who took the corner for Lazio's goal then helped give Perugia back their lead
when his sloppy clearance, from a corner, went straight to Grosso. Guess who made the
equaliser? Oddo, with a deep cross into the box.

Assists : Tedesco (won pen), Oddo (ck), Oddo

PIACENZA 0-1 COMO
								Amoruso 6

Multiple reject Amoruso gave Como only their second win of the season with a rare
piece of dribbling and strong finish from the edge of the box. Piacenza twice hit the
woodwork with free kicks, Maresca in the first half and The Boss in the second.

Assist : ?

REGGINA 3-2 UDINESE
Bonazzoli 3 Pizarro 10 (Pen)
Di Michele 11 Iaquinta 45
Cozza 65 (Pen)

Bonazzoli headed Reggina into an early lead from a Nakamura cross. A terrible piece of
defending by Vargas got Udinese level though Muzzi predictably made a meal of a non
challenge in the box. Pizarro converted. Less than a minute later Reggina were back in
front when Di Michele blasted a loose ball past De Sanctis. Iaquinta equalised on half
time with a fantastic diving header. Reggina were awarded a penalty for handball.
Cozza missed but the ref made him re-take it for encroachment, this time he scored
but again the Udinese players rushed the kick so the ref made him take it again!
He scored, again, and this time only one Udinese player rushed the kick so the ref
let it stand! Only in Serie A. Iaquinta was sent off for protesting over the non award
of a penalty

Assists : Nakamura, Muzzi (won pen), Pinzi
Red Card : Iaquinta 89 (Udinese)

ROMA 3-1 EMPOLI
Totti 31 Di Natale 11
Montella 49, 68

Cufre went AWOL on a pass allowing Di Natale to score his first goal in months. Di Natale
injured himself when challenging Cufre for a ball. Totti equalised after Berti fumbled a save.
Roma took the lead early in the second half following a brilliant move. Samuel chipped the
ball upto Candela, he volleyed across goal and Montella half volleyed into the net. Montella
finished off his former club with a header, he didn't seem too happy about it.

Assists : Rocchi, Candela, Emerson

1 March 2003

PARMA 1-1 MODENA
Adriano 26 Scoponi 28

A superb opener by Adriano. He controlled a high cross on his chest, turned and sold
Moretti with a superb dummy, first feigning right then left, he ran past Cevoli, threw
Moretti to the ground and drilled a low shot past Ballotta. Kamara laid off a long
ball to Vignarolli, Vignarolli centred and Scaponi shot first time, Frey dived low but someone
managed to let the ball squirm under him. Cevoli headed against the crossbar. Parma, who
were without the injured Mutu, failed to create any clear cut chances.

Attendance : 18,586
Assist : ?, Vignarolli

BRESCIA 0-0 BOLOGNA

Bellucci volleyed against a post. Toni missed an absolute sitter after a bit of Baggio magic
left him with a gaping goal. Toni also forced Pagliuca into making a match winning
save from a fiercely struck snapshot.

Another 0-0 featuring Brescia. For the sake of Serie A I hope they get relegated.

Attendance : 16,000
Red Card : Bilica 47 (Brescia)
