SERIE A ROUND 3

MODENA STUN ROMA

22 SEPTEMBER 2002

ROMA 1-2 MODENA
Totti 4 (Pen) Milanetto 45 (Pen)
						Sculli 77

Two more bs penalties in this match. Totti won and converted the first. The
second was an absolute joke. Sculli went up to challenge for a cross and fell
down. Emerson was standing near him so obvious penalty! Panucci was sent off
for protesting, a blessing in disguise. Milanetto converted.

Down to 10 men and chasing the game Capello decided to take off Batistuta
and replaced him with defender Sartor. He then took off Montella for Tommasi.
You can't argue with logic like that. Kamara intercepted a slack pass from
Tommasi and sent Sculli down the right wing, he ran into the box and rolled
the ball into the corner. Ballotta made phenomenal saves from Emerson and
Totti to deny Roma a share of the points.

Assists : Totti (won pen), Sculli (won pen), Kamara
Red Card : Panucci 44 (Roma)

ATALANTA 2-2 BOLOGNA
Doni 18, 51 (Pen) Locatelli 13
				 		Bellucci 76 (Pen)

Bologna should have been awarded an early penalty for handball. Locatelli
scored a rare headed goal from Zanchi's flick on. Doni equalised from a
corner. Having turned down a stone wall penalty in the first half the ref
gave two bullshit penalties to each team in the second half. The first after
total dive by Gautieri which Doni converted and the second for an apparent
foul by Zauri on Cruz when challenging for a cross. Bellucci converted in
absence of Signori to give the visitors a deserved point.

Attendance : 15,000
Assists : Zanchi, Foglio (ck), Gautieri (won pen), Cruz (won pen)

CHIEVO 1-2 BRESCIA
Cossato 74 Tare 58
						Seric 87

Tare headed in a Baggio free kick. Srnicek came off his line to punch out
Corini's free kick, he only succeeded in punching the ball into the ground and
falling on his arse leaving Cossato with a tap-in. Chievo tried out a new
defence pattern in this match, four defenders in a straight line all in the centre
leaving the flanks exposed. Baggio played the ball out wide to Seric and he
ran unchallenged into the box and picked his spot. So much for that experiment.

Attendance : 13,880 for €194,391
Assists : Baggio (fk), Baggio

PARMA 2-0 COMO
Lamouchi 13
Adriano 46

Lamouchi blasted home a deflected cross. Godeas and Pecchia missed chances
to draw Como level. Adriano finished them off in the first minute of the second
half, heading in a Mutu free kick.

Attendance : 15,800
Assist : Mutu (fk)

PIACENZA 2-0 UDINESE
Hubner 27
Maresca 87

The Boss finished off a fine passing move involving Cristante, Montano and
Di Francesco to volley Piacenza in front and then crashed a splendid half volley
against the outside of a post. Jancker missed an open goal, for the second time
this season. A quick break finished off the visitors. Di Francesco floated a cross
straight into Maresca, he controlled the ball on his chest and lobbed over
De Sanctis.

Attendance : 7,000
Assists : Di Francesco (x2)

REGGINA 1-2 INTER
Nakamura 91 Pen Vieri 6
						Recoba 93

A superbly placed volley gave Inter an early lead. Cannavaro capped off a poor
week, he was sent off against Rosenborg in the Champions League tie, by
giving away a penalty for a clumsy challenge on Rastelli. Nakamura equalised
from the penalty spot. Deep into injury time a miracle, Javier Zanetti actually
did something! He won a ball in midfield and passed to Crespo, Crespo centred
and Recoba quickly made space for himself before firing home the winner.

Attendance : 30,000
Assists : Materazzi, Rastelli (won pen), Crespo

TORINO 0-1 LAZIO
						Simeone 86

Stankovic headed a Mihajlovic free kick against the post. There was an
incredible miss by Magallanes late in the first half. Inzaghi Jr was denied
a certain goal by an amazing point blank save from Bucci. Simeone won
the points with a header from Mihajlovic's corner. Mihajlovic's delivery
was outstanding throughout the match.

Attendance : 25,000
Assist : Mihajlovic (ck)

21 SEPTEMBER 2002

MILAN 3-0 PERUGIA
Maldini 40
Inzaghi 50
Seedorf 68

Milan whacked Perugia in a match played on a rain sodden San Siro. Maldini
scored his first goal in two seasons with a header from a Pirlo corner though
Perugia's giant 'keeper Kalac is to blame for poor positioning. Kalac collided
with a team-mate when attempting to cut out Kaladze's cross allowing
Inzaghi to tap in his fifth goal of the season. Seedorf came on for the ineffective
Rui Costa and scored soon after with a superb toe poke from close range.
Serginho missed a late penalty.

Milan's first major tests arrive in the next seven days in the shape of away trips
to Deportivo and Lazio.

Assists : Pirlo (ck), Kaladze, Inzaghi
Attendance : 60,000

EMPOLI 0-2 JUVENTUS
						Del Piero 5 (Pen), 73

Del Piero gave the defending champions an early lead from the penalty spot
following a total dive, the old throw yourself over the 'keeper routine. He
scored a brilliant second, he latched onto a long ball from the returning
Tudor and from a tight angle whipped the ball into the top corner.

Attendance : 18,700 for €504,000
Assists : Del Piero (won pen), Tudor
