SERIE A ROUND 27

28 March 2004

BRESCIA 5-2 ANCONA
Baggio 23, 82 Rapajc 32 (fk)
Mauri 29 Maini 39 (Pen)
Colucci 45
Caracciolo 75

Two cracking goals gave Brescia a healthy early advantage. Rapajc scored direct from a 35
yard free kick. Castelazzi gave up a stupid penalty and Maini equalised. Colucci put Brescia back
in front from a corner. Caracciolo headed in a Baggio free kick and Baggio made it 202 Serie A
goals with a beautiful lob. He's still got it.

Attendance : 10,000
Assists : Caracciolo, ? won fk, Pandev (won pen), Matuzalem

JUVENTUS 3-1 MODENA
Maresca 57 Marazzina 67
Trezeguet 63, 83

Juve returned to winning ways with a typical, un-inventive performance. The first three goals
were set-piece headers. Barca bound Trezeguet was offside when he scored Juve's third.

Attendance : 30,666
Assists : Camoranesi (ck), Tacchinardi, Vignarolli (fk)

MILAN 2-2 CHIEVO
Pirlo 80 Sculli 22
Shevchenko 96 Perrotta 39

A combination of some horrible defending and awful, awful finishing by Inzaghi seemed set
to give Chievo a shock victory. Mistakes by Gattuso and Costacurta allowed Luciano to ran
the left flank and Cossato cleverly dummied his cross, taking out Maldini, and left Sculli unmarked
in front of goal. Inzaghi pounced on Lanna's hospital pass, rounded Marchegiani and shot horribly
over with an empty net at his mercy. Perrotta surprisingly brushed aside Maldini with ease before
blasting in Chievo's second. Pancaro, who went walkabout on both Chievo goals, headed Pirlo's
free kick over the bar. At the start of the second half Rui Costa came on for Seedorf and Ancelotti
inexplicably left on Inzaghi, choosing to substitute Tomasson for Shevchenko. Another terrible
miss by Inzaghi and an incredible save by Marchegiani seemed to suggest this wasn't Milan's day.
Cossato beat an out of sorts Maldini to a cross and should have scored a third but Dida was quick
off his line to block the shot. Out of nowhere Milan were level. Pirlo sent a stupendous 35 yard
shot screaming into the top corner. In the second half of injury time Marchegiani successfully
claimed a cross and as he landed apparently hurt a thigh muscle, needless to say no one in the
stadium was convinced. Paparesta rightfully added on the three or so minutes Marchegiani took
up when getting 'treatment'. Rui Costa hit a deep, swinging cross into the box and Shevchenko
beat team-mate Ambrosini to the ball, 2-2.

Milan's defence has been well below par in recent weeks but Nesta's return should help greatly.
If Inzaghi is fixing for a transfer out of the club he sure as hell is going about it the right way.
Ancelotti and the fans will only tolerate so many bad misses.

Attendance : 64,862
Assists : Luciano (x2), Rui Costa (x2)

PARMA 4-0 EMPOLI
Barone 36
Gilardino 59 (Pen), 62
Bresciano 79

Frey made amends for giving away a penalty with a splendid save from Di Natale. Barone
began the rout with a beautiful first time lob. Gilardino converted a gift of a penalty then
beat the offside trap to score his second. Gilardino cleverly dummied Marchionni's centre
allowing Bresciano to score the fourth.

Frey needs to lose weight, he looks fat.

Attendance : 12,000
Assists : Carbone, Marchionni (won pen), Rosina, Marchionni

PERUGIA 1-2 LAZIO
Brienza 49 Fiore 28
							Giannichedda 57

Fiore scored with a fantastic overhead kick. He flicked up a deflected cross then rifled the
ball past Kalac. Serena replaced Peruzzi who had to leave with a muscle problem. A fantastic
first touch took Brienza away from Couto and he rolled the ball wide of Serena. Corradi headed
Oddo's cross down for Giannichedda to score a rare goal.

Attendance : 12,000
Assists : Fabiano, Oddo

REGGINA 0-2 INTER
							Bonazzoli 41 (og)
							Adriano 93

Bonazzoli headed Recoba's corner into his own net. Inter survived Reggina's second half
bombardment and Adriano scored a late sucker punch, a mix-up between Torrisi and Belardi
leaving him with an empty net.

Attendance : 21,759

ROMA 1-2 BOLOGNA
Cassano 33 Pecchia 25
							Tare 78

Bologna followed up their shock mid-week victory over Lazio by ending Roma's slim
title chances. The Roma defence froze on a free kick allowing Pecchia to volley Bologna
into the lead. Cassano levelled minutes later turning in Panucci's knock down from close
range. At this point you'd think Bologna were in for a kicking and they would have been but
for some awful finishing. Candela, Dacourt and Mancini missed presentable chances.
Emerson inadvertently blocked Samuel's goal bound effort and shortly after Capello
substituted Montella for Cassano, Tare headed in Meghni's cross.

Attendance : 44,123
Assists : Panucci, Meghni

SAMPDORIA 2-2 LECCE
Flachi 7, 42 Chevanton 36 (Pen)
							Konan 94

Flachi doesn't usually score ordinary goals and having put Samp in the lead with a tap-in he
restored their advantage after Chevanton scored from the spot with a typically acrobatic effort.
Conte, whose mistake lead to the penalty, launched a long ball downfield, Flachi bounced the
ball off his left knee before sending a scissor kick into the bottom corner. Konan blasted in a
last minute equaliser when Samp failed to deal with a long ball.

Attendance : 30,000
Assists : Bazzani, Chevanton (won fk)

SIENA 1-0 UDINESE
Flo 5

Had De Sanctis not appealed for offside he may have got across to prevent Flo from giving
Siena the lead. Udinese saw plenty of the ball but didn't put Siena's goal under enough
pressure.

Attendance : 12,500
Assist : Taddei
