24 October 2004 MILAN 0-0 INTER An extremely disappointing derby which promised much but was lacking the most crucial ingredient of all i.e. a goal. Inter should have been two up inside the first ten minutes but Vieri returned to form and missed two sitters. Fontana saved brilliantly from Crespo following a tremendous run by Kaka' whose was a constant thorn in the side for Inter, drawing four yellow cards. Shevchenko, Kaka' and Ambrosini all missed easy headers in the second half. Nesta did a fantastic job on Adriano. A freak bounce saw the ball spin back towards the Messina penalty area, Babu flicked the ball to Bjelanovic and he slammed into the bottom corner. A rare handling error for Sicignano, who has been excellent this season briefly got Messina back in the match only for Bjelanovic to head in an immediate reply from a corner. Surprisingly there was only one goal in the second half. Dalla Bonna finished off a fine team move and Babu became the second player to make a hat-trick of assists. Giampa' suffered a horrific injury when his left thigh was ripped leaving the muscle exposed after colliding with the metal edge of an advertising hoarding. It looked about 6 inches long and 6 inches wide. I don't think there's any muscle damage but he's going to have a nasty scar. Fellow midfielder Bresciano ran in from the left onto Morfeo's pass and rolled the ball into the corner. Rocchi headed Lazio back into the match 10 minutes later but Gilardino sealed Parma's first league win of the season with a brilliant volley. Having completed a hat-trick of assists Morfeo missed a penalty. Mauri equalised when he crashed in a half volley from Jankulovski's corner. Sensini scrambled Udinese into the lead after Lupatelli misjudged a free kick. Miccoli kept his wretched coach in a job, at least for another few weeks, with a phenomenal second goal. He flicked up a pass from Portillo with his right foot then absolutely leathered the ball into the top left corner with his left. A dreadful mistake by Katergiannakis gave the home side a two minute lead. His weak goalkick was seized upon by Pazzini and he calmly chipped the 'keeper for his third goal of the season. New Italy international Esposito cancelled out the youngsters strike 10 minutes later after Atalanta screwed up offside. Loria gave Cagliari the lead following poor defending from a set piece. Albertini's speculative shot struck Pazzini and as he fell he managed to lay the ball into the path of Montolovio and the 19 year old calmly stroked the ball inside the post. He fired in a second after the Siena defence gave him too much time to control and shoot a Zebina cross. Camoranesi added a third with a superb flick header from a free kick.
