INTER 2-0

PARMA

Figo 68
Cambiasso 81

In the 68th minute Veron, who had done nothing up until this point, pounced on Grella
as he turned onto a pass and played an instant one-two with substitute Martins then
sent Figo clear on the right and he swept the ball into the opposite corner, his first
goal for Inter. Bucci collided with one of his defenders as they chased down Adriano,
Simplicio's hurried clearance fell to Cambiasso and he killed the ball instantly before
lobbing into an empty net.

Attendance : 47,651
Assists : Veron, n/a

CHIEVO 1-1

ASCOLI

Pellissier 14

D'Anna 43 (og)

Zanchetta touched a free kick to Pellissier and he fired the ball through a gap in the
wall past Francis Ford Coppola. D'Anna sliced Comotto's cross past his own 'keeper.
Obbina came on with 30 minutes to go but didn't do a great deal nor did Chievo after
that point to win the match. Bjelanovic and Fini should have won it for Ascoli,
Bjelanovic in particular guilty of a terrible miss.

Attendance : 5,000
Assists : Zanchetta, n/a

FIORENTINA 3-1

MILAN

Toni 10, 87

Gilardino 25

Jorgensen 46

Toni punished non existent marking to head Fiorentina into the lead from a Pasqual
free kick. Serginho whipped a ball into the box, Frey froze allowing Gilardino to
equalise. Milan finished the first half strongly but it was Fiorentina who struck next
due to a rare mistake by Nesta. Pasqual, who is a much better alternative to Gross
at left back for Italy, fired a cross into the box, Nesta tried to clear but only succeeded
in diverting the ball into Jorgensen's path, 2-1. Milan should have been awarded a
penalty for handball and had a goal disallowed for a non existent push. The Milan tried
to spring the offside trap on a corner leaving Toni free to head in his 15th goal of the
season.

Attendance : 44,000
Assists : Pasqual (fk), Serginho, n/a, Pancaro

LECCE 3-0

SIENA

Vucinic 16
Konan 53
Cozzolino 90

Vucinic, who scored 19 goals last season, finally got off the mark for this term thanks
largely to Siena goalkeeper Mirante. Konan tapped in a second after Valdes did a
great impression of the Zidane slow motion dribble before chipping the ball into the
box. In injury time Cozzolino intercepted on the half way line and waltzed through
the Siena defence before rounding the 'keeper and tapped into an empty net.

LIVORNO 2-0

EMPOLI

Morrone 31
Lucarelli 88

Coco got a second bite at playing in a cross and Morrone caught Berti for straying too
far off his near post. Everyone's favourite communist Cristiano Lucarelli, who has a
habit of scoring late, beat Berti with a precise shot on the turn.

Livorno are fifth. What the hell is that about?

Attendance : 15,000
Assists : Coco, Morrone

REGGINA 3-1

CAGLIARI

Amoruso 2

Abeijon 67

Cozza 38 (Pen)
Paredes 80

Nedo Sonetti, Cagliari's fourth coach this season, had a dream start when his team
conceded after two minutes. Amoruso won a penalty, I haven't seen the incident but
it was almost certainly a dive. Abeijon gave Cagliari a glimmer of hope with a superbly
placed header but Paredes finished them off with a header.

Attendance : 9,000
Red Card : Biondini 87 (Reggina), Gobbi 88 (Cagliari)
Assists : Cozza, Amoruso (won pen), Agostini, Cozza

SAMPDORIA 2-0

LAZIO

Diana 72
Flachi 73

This was a dull affair until mid-way through the second half. Tare and Behrami wasted
great chances to give Lazio the lead before Diana, who should be Italy's right back at
the World Cup, crashed a volley in off a post. With the post still vibrating Castellini
helped on a header and Flachi found the bottom corner.

This could (should) be Italy's back four at the World Cup :

LB : Pasqual (allowing Zambrotta to play in midfield)
CB : Cannavaro
CB : Nesta
RB : Diana

I'm not sure about Pasqual's chances given at 23 he maybe considered to young but
Diana is certain to go as he can also play in midfield so would provide cover for
Camoranesi. Italy have great depth in the full back positions with Zambrotta, Pasqual,
Diana, Oddo and longer term Chiellini but there isn't good cover in central defence.

Attendance : 23,000
Assists : Flachi, Castellini

TREVISO 2-2

PALERMO

Reginaldo 2, 6

Ferri 28

Brienza 69

Guardalden was back after a three month lay-off and his first task was to pick
the ball out of the net. Biava tried to hack clear a cross but sliced the ball
up in the air and Reginaldo watched it drop over his shoulder before volleying
into the bottom corner. Incredibly Biava gave a second, inadvertent assist to
Reginaldo when he sliced Dossena's cross to the back post and the 22 year old
Brazilian volleyed in his second Serie A goal - in four minutes. Ferri tapped in after
Caracciolo, who was still wearing a gimp mask, shot against a post. Barzagli charged
down Cottafava's clearance and passed wide to Gonzalez, Gonzalez fired over the
'keeper, who was stuck at his near post, and Brienza slid the ball into the net.

Reginaldo was named after Reginald Perrin, the character played by the brilliant
Leonard Rossiter in the BBC comedy show The Fall And Rise Of Reginald Perrin.
Apparently Reginaldo's parents were big fans and this is all a lie.

ROMA 1-4

JUVENTUS

Totti 64 (Pen)

Nedved 46

Ibrahimovic 56

Trezeguet 58, 61

In first half injury time Camoranesi hit a high cross into the box and Nedved got above
the much taller Panucci and headed into the corner. Ibrahimovic scored a fabulous
second on the break. With Roma camped in the Juve box Emerson hit a ball out of
defence to Ibrahimovic, who was standing on the half way line with his back to play,
he flicked the ball about 30 feet in the air as he turned and shrugged off Kuffour before
spring downfield and slamming a shot into the top left corner. Zambrotta, who seems
to be getting forward more in recent weeks, whipped in another superb cross straight
onto Trezeguet's head and the Frenchman tapped in a second after Thuram miss-hit
a shot following good work by Nedved and Ibrahimovic. Paparesta took pity on Roma
by awarding a phantom penalty and Thuram a red card.

In retaliation for a strong challenge by Nedved in the first half, Totti put his foot on his
head after both players were grounded when jumping for a ball. I'm not sure if it's
enough to earn a suspension but it should be as clearly Totti still hasn't learned his
lesson.

Attendance : 70,000
Red Card : Thuram 63 (Juventus)
Assists : Camoranesi, Emerson, Zambrotta, Thuram, Montella (won pen)
