ROMA | 1-1 |
FIORENTINA |
Tommasi 2 |
Toni 66 (Pen) |
|
A series of injuries left Roma so short on
players they had to give Cassano his first league start in six weeks. Tommasi also made his return to league football after 18 months on the sidelines with a knee injury. The duo combined to give Roma a dream start. Totti whacked a loose ball forward sending Cassano clear down the right flank, he centred and despite being in front of Tommasi, Ujfalusi failed to get close enough and Tommasi tapped into the net. Toni equalised from the penalty spot after Pazzini made the most of a stupid challenge by Mexes to win a penalty and earn the Roma defender a red card. Attendance : 40,000 Red Card : Mexes 65 (Roma) Assists : Cassano, Pazzini |

ASCOLI | 1-1 |
PALERMO |
Ferrante 53 |
Bonanni 37 |
|
Makinwa, who hasn't scored in ages, headed on
Gonzalez's cross and Bonanni volleyed into the corner. Guana stole the ball off Corini, ran into the box and squared for Ferrante to tap-in. The attendances this week in Serie A have to be at record lows, seeing so many empty stands was embarrassing. Now I understand the stadia are in a shocking state but before the long process of renovation/rebuilding begins, and that's assuming Italy win the rights to host Euro 2012, the clubs need to do something drastic to bring people back, letting in women and children free would be a start and maybe the women could keep their husbands in check and stop some of the violence. Attendance : 9,000 Assists : Makinwa, Guana |

CAGLIARI | 2-0 |
SAMPDORIA |
Suazo 21, 52 | ||
Agostini touched a free kick to Suazo and
although he shot straight at Antonioli the ball was hit with such venom the former Roma 'keeper was almost floored as he tired to save. In the second half Suazo turned a defender before beating Antonioli with another fiercely struck shot. Attendance : 6,000 Assists : Agostini fk, Budel |

EMPOLI | 2-3 |
LAZIO |
Bonetto 55 |
Tavano 28 (og) |
|
Tavano 59 (Pen) |
Tare 77 |
|
? 80 (og) |

Lazio rode their luck to win this match. The
first and third of their goals were scored via deflected free kicks. Defender Bonetto broke into midfield onto a pass, beat two players then hit a stunning left foot shot which flew into the corner. Tavano put the home team in front from the penalty spot. Tare headed in an equaliser. Only a fantastic save from Peruzzi prevented Empoli from restoring their lead, it was a hell of a save given the heavy rain intensified as the match wore on. Liverani stole the points with a deflected free kick. Attendance : 6,000 Red Card : Ficini (Empoli) Assists : n/a, Pozzi, n/a, Oddo, n/a |

JUVENTUS | 3-1 |
TREVISO |
Mutu 37 |
Parravicini 25 |
|
Trezeguet 43 | ||
Del Piero 82 | ||
An excellent three man passing move between
Reginaldo and Galeoto ended with Parravicini sweeping the ball into the bottom corner. Treviso's lead lasted all of 12 minutes. Ibrahimovic combined with Camoranesi on the right wing before drilling a low cross into the box, Mutu threw himself at the ball to equalise. Trezeguet tapped Juve in front just before half time. Del Piero, on for Trezeguet in the second half, was gifted another goal by Ibrahimovic. He almost scored a second but his wicked free kick came back off a post. Ibrahimovic threw the ball at the back of Cottafava's head and in another incident cross-faced Treviso defender Giuliatto. He should be banned. Attendance : 27,000 Assists : Galeoto, Ibrahimovic, n/a, Ibrahimovic |

MESSINA | 1-2 |
INTER |
Di Napoli 71 |
Recoba 7 |
|
Cambiasso 59 |
||
Inter shelved their no Italians policy by
fielding one in this match, having fielded none in mid-week. Someone needs to take a look at the passports, again. Stankovic, back on the right wing for the first time in ages, hit a a superb cross over Rezaei to Recoba and he blasted a volley into the back of the net. Iliev started crying after failing to win a penalty. Having scored a hat-trick in mid-week you'd figure Adriano was back on form but he missed an open goal and hit a free kick hopelessly wide. Messina failed to clear their lines from a Recoba free kick and Cambiasso showed instant control to bring down the ball and fire past Storari. For some reason the colour blind Inter supporters started hurling racial abuse at Messina defender Zoro, Adriano held him back as he threatened to walk off the pitch. FIFA President Sepp Bladder did say it was ok to do so in these circumstances. Next time it happens he should walk. Di Napoli tapped in a consolation goal after Cesar spilled a shot. Attendance : 30,000 Assists : Stankovic, Cordoba, n/a |

PARMA | 1-2 |
UDINESE |
Corradi 89 |
Barreto 47, 48 |
|
Udinese gave a rare start to pacey 20 year
old Brazilian striker 'Sideshow Bob' Barreto who has the most ridiculous haircut in football. He scored with a left foot volley at the end of the first half after Iaquinta laid off a cross. Early in the second half Iaquinta was once again involved in Udinese's goal, he headed on a long ball to Mauri who in turn flicked the ball to Barreto and he controlled on his chest before poking into the top corner. Corradi headed in a late consolation goal. Attendance : 12,500 Assists : Iaquinta, Mauri, Marchionni |

MILAN | 2-1 |
LECCE |
Pirlo 3 (fk) |
Konan 67 |
|
Inzaghi 94 | ||
Pirlo gave Milan the lead with a marvellous
free kick, sending the ball over the wall before it curled away into the bottom corner. Milan should have been 5-0 up at half time, Gilardino blew two one vs one against Sicignano, Shevchenko, Seedorf and Gattuso went close. Public liability Stam got Lecce back into the match with a suicidal header back across goal and Konan bravely scored with Dida diving at his feet. Sicignano made a brilliant save from Nesta's scissor kick (!). Inzaghi, on as a late sub, flicked on a long ball out of defence to Pirlo, Pirlo isn't exactly brilliant in the air but headed a perfectly waited pass back to Inzaghi and he volleyed inside the post. Attendance : 55,129 Assists : Shevchenko, n/a, Pirlo |
