EMPOLI 1-1

UDINESE

Tavano 53 (pen)

Felipe 55

Tavano ended his seven match goal drought from the penalty spot. Bertotto hit a first
time cross into a packed penalty area and Felipe poked the ball into the corner to
equalise. Empoli should have won this, I think they hit the woodwork three times.
This looked to be a great match as both teams created and wasted a ridiculous
number of chances.

Attendance : 5,000
Assists : Pozzi (won pen), Bertotto

ROMA 3-1

REGGINA

Totti 4, 65

Franceschini 91

Lucarelli 93 (og)

Totti tapped Roma into a fourth minute lead after Pavarini made a balls-up of a cross.
Reggina did remarkably well to hold out for another hour because the hosts were all
over them like a drunk on a kebab. Pavarini made up for his earlier mistake with a
string of excellent saves before Totti tapped in a second after Taddei beat a defender
to a longball and squared to his captain. Franceschini gave Reggina a glimmer of hope
from a cleverly worked free kick but Roma went downfield and scored a third through
another deflected effort from Mancini.

Lippi should call up Taddei, he's decent cover on the right for Camoranesi (even
though he plays in a more advanced attacking position) and has pace.

CHIEVO 1-1

JUVENTUS

Franceschini 21

Vieira 31

After Ibrahimovic wasted two chances and should have been awarded a penalty for a
blatant body check, Chievo took the lead completely against the run of play. Semioli
hit a cross over to the back post and Franceschini volleyed into the opposite corner.
Vieira headed in the equaliser from Camoranesi's free kick.

Attendance : 18,673
Assists : Semioli, Camoranesi (fk)

PALERMO 4-2

PARMA

Corini 27 (fk)

Simplicio 23

Barzagli 50

Cannavaro 38

Di Michele 52, 60

Morfeo, in his first start since returning from his 103 match ban, played in Simplicio for
the opening goal with an excellent first time lobbed pass. Corini did Guardalden at his
near post with a free kick which he should have saved it. While the Palermo defence
were busy appealing for handball against Contini, Cannavaro took the ball off his
team-mate and curled the ball inside the post from about 20 yards. I don't remember
ever seeing a defender score a goal like that. Another defender, Barzagli, got in on the
act and beat Guardalben with a 25 yard shot which dipped wickedly at the last minute.
Di Michele got his Palermo career off to a great start with a quick brace. Corini
released him with a long ball over the top of Parma's high defence and he raced
cleared to score. He added a magnificent second, making Guardalben look like a
complete fool with an awesome close range lob.

Udinese are idiots for letting Di Michele go so cheaply.

Attendance : 26,990
Assists : Morfeo, n/a, Contini, n/a, Corini, Godeas

MESSINA 1-1

LAZIO

Rafael 22

Manfredini 78

Rafael capitalised on a rare error of judgement from Peruzzi to head in a free kick.
Manfredini met Keller's cross (who the hell is Keller?) with a brilliant diving header.
Peruzzi pulled off a fantastic save to deny Messina a last minute winner.

Lazio are one of the best footballing sides in Serie A. I'd love to see what De Rossi
could do with a budget, not that it has helped Cosmi but that's another story.

Attendance : 20,000
Assists : D'Agostino (fk), Keller

SAMPDORIA 3-1

FIORENTINA

Tonetto 11, 25

Toni 14

Flachi 32

Bazanni headed on a ridiculously high corner, Tonetto threw himself in the air and
smashed an overhead kick past the flailing arms of Cejas, brilliant goal. Toni headed
Fiorentina level from a corner. Tonetto restored Samp's lead with another fantastic
goal. Dainelli headed another high ball 15 or so yards from the edge of the box,
Tonetto met it first time, sending a low left foot volley crashing in off a post. Flachi
headed in a third against his former club as Fiorentina continued to struggle with
Samp's air game.

Attendance : 24,000
Assists : Bazzani, Ujfalusi, n/a, n/a
