CAGLIARI 4-1

EMPOLI

Abeijon 2

Tavano 60

Esposito 19, 61
Suazo 37

Abeijon blasted Cagliari into a second minute lead after Gobbi's header rebounded
off a defender. While the Empoli defence were appealing for offside Langella turned
on a cross and centred for Esposito to score a tap-in. The home side appeared to
blow the chance of scoring what would have been an easy third when Gobbi overhit
a cross with Suazo unmarked at the fast post however, despite being hounded by two
defenders, a sudden burst of pace from Suazo took him away and as he brought the
ball onto his left foot he fired between the 'keepers legs. Another high quality finish
from the greatest player Honduras have and are every likely to produce. Pozzi
headed on a cross and Tavano rammed the ball into the roof of the net from close
range. Langella killed off hopes of a stunning comeback when he charged down the
left flank and crossed for Esposito to head in his second.

LIVORNO 2-2

MESSINA

Lucarelli 54, 68

Di Napoli 79 &

96 (Pens)

Messina went in level at half time thanks to poor finishing from their hosts. In the
second half Rezaei gave them a helping hand by chesting down a cross to his 'keeper
what he didn't realise was that George was off his line leaving Lucarelli with a tap-in.
Lucarelli 'scored' his second goal from a free kick via a massive deflection of Rezaei.
Galante, under pressure from Floccari, handled outside his box so the ref pointed to
the spot, ridiculous penalty. Messina's second penalty, also for handball was legit but
Livorno will be wondering where the ref found six minutes of injury time.

REGGINA 2-2

PALERMO

De Rosa 49

Barone 42

Paredes 92

Caracciolo 80

Barone passed a ball into Di Michele who was being flanked by two defenders on the
edge of the box, as Barone continued his run forward Di Michele slipped the ball
through the legs of a defender and the midfielder absolutely hammered into the top
corner. Palermo threw away the lead in first half injury time (4 minutes in the FIRST
half?!?!?!?). Palermo's didn't bother attacking Mesto's corner, the ball bounced off
Biava and De Rosa slammed it high into the net. Caracciolo looked to have won the
match when he profited from De Rosa's slip to score but Palermo once again
conceded in injury time though this goal was really, really special. Amoruso headed
on a long, crossfield pass, and, standing just a few yards off the penalty spot, Paredes
leapt in the air and thundered an overhead kick into the top corner, one of the best
overhead kicks I have ever seen.

SAMPDORIA 1-1

TREVISO

Kutozov 31

Gustavo 63

Diana held off two defenders on the right flank before floating a cross straight to the
penalty spot, Kutozov connected with a scissor kick which Sereni should have saved.
Treviso scored a crappy equaliser. Pinga swung a free kick into the box and as Gustavo
slipped he managed to get a foot to the ball sending it looping over Antonioli.

PARMA 0-3

ROMA

Mancini 47, 72

Perrotta 78

A beautiful passing moved down the right ended with Perrotta dropping a cross
straight onto Totti's head, Cannavaro hacked off the line, Guardalben blocked Totti's
follow up but Parma were beaten at the third attempt by Mancini's stinging low drive.
Roma scored two MAGNIFICENT goals in a six minute spell. Chivu brought the ball out
of defence and passed to Totti who was standing with his back to play on the edge
of the centre circle. As Totti turned he flicked the ball up then hit a dipping pass over
the Parma defence into the path of Mancini, Guardalben came off his line and Mancini
lobbed first time into an empty net. Taddei, on the right flank, had his cross charged
down by a defender, Perrotta back heeled the ball to Totti as he ran forward, Totti,
without looking, hit a high first time pass into the box and Perrotta jumped in the air
to volley into the corner.

It's taken Mancini TWO YEARS to recapture the form he showed when he first made
his Serie A debut. Roma have been playing magical football in recent weeks.
