In full view of the ref a defender was trying to haul down Galante in the box as he
turned onto a loose ball from a corner, he finally succeeded, the ball broke to
Bakayoko, the Cagliari players pushed up trying to play offside leaving the Ivory Coast
striker with an easy finish. Ferri volleyed Cagliari level from Conti’s free kick. Esposito
launched a counter attack when Cagliari where defending a corner with a ball forward
to Suazo, as two Livorno defenders backed off he blasted the ball to Chimenti’s right,
excellent finish. Ferri pushed over Danilevicius to concede the penalty.

REGGINA

Rigano 24, 85

Masiello fired in a cross from the left flank which Alessandro Lucarelli should have
hacked clear but he completely missed the ball and Rigano took full advantage.
Reggina were threatening an equaliser but couldn’t find a way past Storari in the
Messina goal. Rigano killed off any hopes of a comeback five minutes from time.
Receiving possession 30 yards from goal he turned, skipped over the challenge of one
defender and pushed the ball between the legs of another before bringing it onto his
right foot and curling a low shot inside a post, fantastic goal.

Barzagli 81

This was the first Sicilian derby in Serie A for 23 years and one no one will ever forget,
no matter how hard they try.

Corona turned Zaccardo inside out on the left wing before taking a shot at goal, this
should have been a bread and butter save for any 'keeper but Agliardi sat and
watched the ball roll into the net. Tedesco scrambled in the equaliser after Catania
made a mess of a corner. Simplicio put Palermo in front early in the second half with
an atrocious shot, more like a firm back-pass really but Pantanelli dived late and
missed the ball. Agliardi gave up another soft goal. Mascara chipped a pass back to
him and instead of putting his foot through the ball he went down on his knees (insert
joke here) and tried to control it on his chest only it missed, struck his left arm and
bounced into the net. Corini converted a penalty after Stovini rugby tackled Bresciano
in the box. While Catania were waiting for a stop in play for an injury Corini sent
Amauri away to make it 4-2. Barzagli headed in Palermo’s fifth. Spinesi brought this
embarrassment of a game to an end with a deflected free kick.

Volpi 68 (fk)

Iaquinta 16

Flachi 77

Asamoah 43

Di Natale had a hand in three Udinese goals. He gave them the lead with a deflected
long range shot and provided the cross for Iaquinta to make it 0-2 with a close range
header. Maggio made a mess of Di Natale’s long ball, Asamoah seized possession
danced around Castelazzi and tapped into an empty net. Del Vecchio gave Samp a
lifeline with a superb header from an equally superb cross. Volpi took a free kick miles
away from goal, out wide left, as the ball sailed into the box, De Sanctis was
distracted by Del Vecchio’s jump and fumbled the ball into his own net. He made
amends with an astonishing point blank save from Maggio but after another great
save was beaten on the rebound by the gambler Flachi.

TORINO 1-2

SIENA

Muzzi 40

Frick 4, 35

Molinaro played a one-two with Vergassola before charging into the box, swerving
away from a defender and laying a goal on a plate for Frick. Abbiati, the son of a
bitch, was outstanding for Juve last season before showing why Milan were so keen
to get rid of him last week with an embarrassing mistake against Udinese and he did
the same thing here. He gathered the ball after Vergassola hit a centre towards Frick
then suddenly dropped it and Frick poked into the net. Is he still on Juve’s payroll?
Muzzi pulled one back with a superb shot from the left hand edge of the box.

This is the first time I have noticed Molinaro, of course it is only his third week in
Serie A but he seems to have pace and is a fair size for a left back, around 6ft.
If Milan are smart they’ll keep an eye on him because they need replacements for
Serginho and Kaladze.
