INTER 3-1

EMPOLI

Cruz 27

Saudati 57

Recoba 59

Stankovic 61

As you would expect it was party time at the San Siro with giant banners in the
stands, balloons and the players entering the field with their kids and holding
aloft a flag with 15 (the number of scudetto won by Inter) at the end of the
match.

Cambiasso back heeled a Recoba pass out wide to Cruz and he hammered inside the
post. Inter stepped off the gas early in the second half and Empoli, chasing a
European spot, were rewarded for their aggression with the equaliser. Almiron
sold Maicon a dummy before passing to Saudati on edge of the box and he beat
Julio Cesar, who had earlier made incredible saves from Pozzi and Saudati,
with a precise shot. Recoba did a Veron and scored direct from a corner. Empoli
lost possession on the edge of their box, Cambiasso played the ball to Stankovic
and he fired into the corner.

Julio Cesar is developing into a World Class goalkeeper. What he lacks right now
is presence.

ASCOLI 2-3

REGGINA

Fini 15 (fk)

Amoruso 24, 32

Bonanni 82

Foggia 52

Fini gave Ascoli the lead with a brilliant free kick. Reggina hit back with a 6
minute brace from Amoruso. He met former Ascoli midfielder Foggia's cross with a
bullet header, Eleftheropoulos made a fantastic save but as he parried the ball
it caught his left foot, it popped up in the air and Amoruso was first to the
rebound. Put through by Tedesco the former Juventus striker ran into the box,
held off his marker and beat Eleftheropoulos at his near post. Reggina's third
was high comedy and the type of goal you only see in Serie A. An Ascoli
defender, not sure who, was wrestling with Amoruso and I do mean wrestling, he
had pulled the striker's shirt almost all the way up his back then dragged him
down leaving Foggia with a clear run on goal. Bonanni scored a brilliant 2nd for
the home side. Both his feet left the ground as he let rip from 25 yards,
sending the ball screaming into the top corner. Bianchi should have given
Reggina some breathing space three minutes later but blew a penalty.

LIVORNO 1-2

PALERMO

Cesar 57 (Pen)

Corini 47 (Pen)

Di Michele 75

Corini gave his new coach Renzo Gobbi, who replaced Francesco Guidolin earlier
in the week, a perfect start from the penalty spot. Cesar converted an equally
debatable penalty in the absence of the suspended Lucarelli. Corini miss-controlled
a deflected through pass, the ball bounced towards Cavani and with his back to
goal the youngster nonchalantly flicked the ball wide to Di Michele and with perfect
synchronisation three Livorno defenders raised their hands appealing for offside
leaving Di Michele to lift the ball over Livorno's reserve goalkeeper Manitta.

PARMA 2-1

CAGLIARI

Budan 29

Conti 67

Gasbarroni 76 (Pen)

Parma broke from defending a corner, Rossi weaved his way past two Cagliari
players before sliding a pass through to Budan, he feigned to shoot just as he
was about to make contact with the ball, Chimenti moved to his left and Budan
shot into the opposite corner. Conti thumped in the equaliser from the edge of
the box. Gasbarroni made it three successive wins for Parma from the spot after
Bianco handled in the box.

SIENA 0-2

SAMPDORIA

Maggio 39

Del Vecchio 89

Parola fired in a cross from the left, Quagliarella flicked the ball to Maggio
and he spun his marker before connecting with a low scissor kick which flew into
the top corner. Brilliant goal. Del Vecchio scored Samp's second on the break.
He could have easily went down in the box under a poor challenge from Rinaudo
but stayed on his feet and picked his spot seconds before another Siena
defender, Portanova, ran him over.
