CAGLIARI 0
SAMPDORIA 3 (Volpi 33, Caracciolo 39, Maggio 45)

Maggio headed back a cross to the edge of the box and Volpi, who is a bit of a long range specialist, thumped the ball into the bottom left corner. Fortin's awful handling gifted Caracciolo, who was admittedly in desperate need of a goal, Samp's second and Maggio headed in a free kick to bring a superb first half for the visitors to an end.

Attendance : 6,100
Red Card : Pieri 68 (Sampdoria)
Assists : Maggio, n/a, Bellucci

CATANIA 1 (Spinesi 82)
ATALANTA 2 (Langella 57, Langella 59)

Doni missed a first half penalty. Langella put away a deflected cross at the second attempt before doubling Atalanta's lead, Doni once again supplied the pass. Spinesi scored a fantastic consolation goal. Martinez chipped a ball over the strikers shoulder and he let it bounce before hitting an awesome half volley which dipped into the bottom left corner.

Attendance : 16,101
Assists : n/a, Doni, Martinez

EMPOLI 2 (Vannucchi 67, Giovinco 91 fk)
ROMA 2 (Giuly 13, Brighi 32)

A quick interplay of passes on the edge of the Empoli penalty area ended with Giuly striking a low shot Giuly shot Roma into the lead following a quick exchange of passes on the edge of the Empoli box. Brighi, making a rare start due to Roma's midfield injury crisis, headed in the second a Mancini cross. As they did against Juventus, Roma missed several clear cut chances and paid the price. Out of absolutely nowhere Vannucchi unleashed a stunning right foot shot from 30 yards which flew past Doni. In the last minute Vannucchi won a cheap free kick inside the left touchline. The prodigiously talented Giovinco, on loan from Juventus, hit the most amazing free kick which sailed high over the Roma wall before dipping inside the top left corner.

Empoli full back Raggi was against superb for the home side. He won't be at the club next summer and could possibly leave as early as January. It's hard to see how a player as talented as Giovinco could fail to become a huge star. In him Juve have a ready made replacement for Del Piero. Juan is every bit as good as Samuel was for Roma in his first season, shame about the rest of his defence.

Attendance : 10,000
Assists : Pizarro, Mancini, Giacomazzi, Vannucchi (won fk)

GENOA 3 (Leon 59 fk, Leon 66, Borriello 82)
PALERMO 3 (Cavani 8, Brienza 76, Amauri 90)

Simplicio ran onto a long throw in and centred for Cavani to tap Palermo into the lead. Honduran international midfielder Leon equalised with a fantastic right footed free kick then scored on the break via a deflection off Capuano. Brienza quickly equalised before Borriello put Genoa into the lead for a second time, side footing past Jimmy after Konko flicked on a loose ball. Amauri scored his second last minute goal of the season an in turn helped Simplicio complete a hat-trick of assists.

Attendance : 24,000

NAPOLI 1 (Lavezzi 89)
REGGINA 1 (Vigiani 54)

Vigiani gave the visitors a shock lead with a near post header. Reggina should have been awarded a second half penalty for a clear as day foul on Valdez and to add insult to injury the ref gave one to the home side after more Lavezzi theatrics. Campagnolo saved from Calaio, I'm not sure why Napoli's regular penalty taker Domizzi didn't take it. Renzo Ulivieri, a former member of Italy's communist party, was on course to make a winning start to his Reggina career before his defence pissed away the points when failing to clear a free kick.

Attendance : 35,000

PARMA 2 (Corradi 24, Matteini 80)
SIENA 2 (De Ceglie 33, Rossi 90 og)

Corradi tapped Parma into the lead from a Reginaldo cross. Locatelli hit a pass on the turn inside Coly to De Ceglie and the 21 year old midfielder hit an angle drive past Pavarini. Matteini broke from defending a corner and ran the entire length of he field before shooting straight at Pavarini however he parried the ball back and Matteini leapt in the air to volley into the top left corner. Galloppa's speculative long range shot took a deflection off Rossi to hand Siena a deserved point. Great match.

Assists : Reginaldo, Locatelli, n/a, n/a

JUVENTUS 1 (Samuel 77 og)
INTER 1 (Cruz 41)

Cesar lobbed a high ball between the Juve centre back, Cruz took the ball on his chest before calmly shooting wide of Buffon. Iaquinta headed down a Palladino cross and from the edge of the box substitute Camoranesi equalised via a huge deflection off Samuel.

This was the most eagerly anticipated match of the season due to Calciopoli and it's subsequent fall out and the fact that the traditional roles were reversed with Inter the dominant force and Juve now the underdogs. It was a huge anti-climax. Juve succeeded in baiting Inter into a war of attrition though I'm surprised there were only 34 fouls (17 each). Inter resorted to long balls into the second half while Juve equally showed little invention until the introduction of Camoranesi.

Attendance : 25,000
