ATALANTA 1 (Vieri 48)
JUVENTUS 3 (Del Piero 31, Legrottaglie 38, Amauri 81)

Coppola almost collided with one of his centre backs as he tried to smother a cross, he spilled the ball and Del Piero tapped into an empty net. Legrottaglie headed in Juve's second from a corner. Former Juventino Vieri scored within two minutes of coming on as a half time sub, meeting Guarante corner with a bullet header. Amauri scored the third headed goal of the match from a Marchionni free kick.

CATANIA 3 (Baiocco 34, Morimoto 40, Morimoto 56)
ROMA 2 (Vucinic 74, Menez 78)

Mascara tackled Perrotta in the Roma half and as he lay writhing on the ground in apparent pain Mascara lead a counter attack, passed the ball out wide to Baiocco and he lobbed over Doni. Tedesco sent Morimoto clear of the Roma defence with a great long ball and with an equally superb first touch he made an angle to beat Doni. Biagianti flicked a Tedesco free kick over the heads of Juan and Mexes and the Japanese striker hooked the ball into the corner. Doni was off his line on all three goals. Useless. Vucinic punished Stovini's failure to deal with a long ball and Menez scored an equally scruffy third with a tame shot which squirmed under Bizarri.

There appeared to be some issue with Morimoto and the Roma players. Both De Rossi and Mexes attacked him verbally and at full time Zenga got into a row with the Roma bench.

MILAN 5 (Pato 4, Kaka' 13, Pato 18, Seedorf 43, Kaka' 51)
UDINESE 1 (Di Natale 17)

Jankulovski picked out old man Favalli with a ball down the left channel and Pato headed in his cross. Abbiati made a phenomenal one handed save from D'Agostino and crashed into the post as he landed. He wasn't hurt. Pato vaulted over a tackle on the left flank before bursting into the box and centring for Kaka' to tap in Milan's second. A mistake by Maldini, who should have been booked for fouling Quagliarella on the edge of the box, lead to Di Natale's goal. He should have cleared from Lukovic but kicked the ball against the defender, as Lukovic fell he deflecting the ball to Quagliarella, he rolled a pass between Antonini's legs and Di Natale slammed a shot into the bottom corner. Milan hit back immediately. Pirlo sprayed a glorious pass out wide to Antonini, he headed the ball down and Pato volleyed into the corner. Pirlo slammed a free kick against Handanovic's right post and Seedorf turned in the rebound. Pato should have completed his hat-trick at the end of the first half. Kaka' made it 5-1 with a blistering strike from the edge of the box. Floro Flores injured himself when challenging for a cross. Pirlo went within a lick of paint of scoring a sixth. Shevchenko's introduction for Pato insured there would be no further goals for the home side. Abbiati made his second great save of the season, from D'Agostino. Teenage centre back Darmian made his second league appearance, in three years, and 18 year old midfielder Rodney Strasser was booked a minute into his Serie A debut for fouling Domizzi. That's the last you'll see of Strasser in a Milan shirt for at least another year.

For the first time ever under Ancelotti Milan started the match without a DM. Jankulovski played in midfield and left back Antonini, who had another excellent game, started at right back. Beckham was unveiled before the match. He walked to the centre of the pitch and the Milky Bar kid presented him with his #32 shirt.

In the second half the Frenchman missed an absolute sitter from six yards following a mistake by Julio Cesar.
