BOLOGNA vs ROMA was suspended due to heavy snowfall.

BRESCIA 0
CHIEVO 3 (Pellissier 46, Mandelli 47, Pellissier 94)

Bogliacino overhit a first time cross to the back post, Fernandes jumped in the air and volleyed the ball into the six yard box and Pellissier powered a header into the net. Two minutes into the second half Mandelli doubled Chievo's lead from a corner. In the last few seconds of injury time Sorrentino belted a goal kick downfield, Sardo flicked on and Pellissier ran through before emphatically beating Accardi.

Attendance : 4,500
Assists : Fernandes, Bogliacino (ck), Sardo

CAGLIARI 2 (Matri 8, Matri 12)
BARI 1 (Okaka 14)

Matri, who could be headed to Juve, jumped to pull down a high ball with his right foot then swivelled to volley past Gillet with his left. Four minutes later Gillet parried Canini's header to the back post and Matri tapped in his second. He only seems to score in bunches. Okaka got Bari back in the game with a dreadful, powder puff shot which Agazzi let slip through his fingers. Canini chopped down Bentivoglio to concede a penalty. Agazzi made up for his earlier mistake by guessing right and diving to Save Rudolf's poor spot kick, scrambled to his feet then made a simply amazing point blank save to deny the striker on the rebound. Glik dived in to trip Matri as he went in search of his hat-trick. Gillet made a brilliant save from Acquafresca who, like Rudolf and Pastore, went bottom right.

GENOA 3 (Palacio 16 Pen, Paletta 44 og, Kaladze 45)
PARMA 1 (Crespo 32)

Floro Flores, who was linked with Juve before Genoa made their move last week, rolled around in the penalty area under minimal contact from Paletta to win the penalty. Eduardo spilled Valiani's fiercely struck shot and Crespo tapped in the rebound, his 8th goal of the season. Paletta headed a cross into his own net and seconds later Rossi took a shot from the edge of the box, it deflected up off the Parma player, KALADZE was first to the ball and poked past Mirante as he came off his line.

Attendance : 22,000

INTER 3 (Pazzini 57, Pazzini 73, Eto'o 76 Pen)
PALERMO 2 (Miccoli 5, Nocerino 36)

Santon dived in to cut out a ball, missed, was nutmegged by Cassani and Miccoli slammed his past the returning Julio Cesar. Santon was caught ball watching leaving Cassani to measure another cross, Julio Cesar punched it out, Nocerino touched the ball outside Maicon as he raced to make a tackle then beat Julio Cesar at his near post. Pastore, who has gone off the boil ever since being linked with a move away from Palermo in December, missed a great chance to finish Inter off late in the first half, he had all the time in the World on a counter attack but smashed the ball against the outside of a post.

At half time Inter's new boys made their debuts. Pazzini replaced Coutinho and Kharja came on for weak link Santon. Pazzini backed into Munoz onto Kharja's pass, turned and squeezed a shot inside the left post. Delio Rossi decided this would be a good time to take off Miccoli and two minutes later Motta fouled Kasami to concede a penalty. With the designated penalty taker i.e. Miccoli off Pastore stepped up and Julio Cesar saved his awful spot kick. Pazzini's abuse of Palermo's young centre back continued, he got in front of the 20 year old Argentinean to head in a Maicon free kick and made the most of his brief grab in the box to win the penalty. Palermo almost snatched a point at the death, a Balzaretti shot took a deflection off Maicon and bounced off Julio Cesar's legs as was diving in the opposite direction to cover the initial shot.

Inter have conceded 10 goals in their last 6 games. Defensively Leonardo doesn't have a clue. Next week's clash with Roma is going to be interesting.

Attendance : 40,000
Assists : Cassani, n/a, Kharja, Maicon (fk), Pazzini (won pen)

LECCE 1 (Corvia 11)
CESENA 1 (Bogdani 93)

Corvia gave Lecce an 11th minute lead from a corner. Tomovic conceded a penalty but Rosati denied Budan with a fantastic one handed save down to his left but Lecce still couldn't make the game safe an in injury time failed to clear a hail Mary ball into the box, Ceccarelli hung up a cross and Bogdani's header dropped into the bottom corner.

Attendance : 6,600
Assists : n/a, Ceccarelli

NAPOLI 4 (Cavani 16, Cavani 45 Pen, Hamsik 48, Cavani 57)
SAMPDORIA 0

Cavani took a Lavezzi pass in his stride, touched it inside Accardi as he stuck out a leg and almost conceded a penalty, then knocked the ball past Curci. Accardi shoved over Cavani to concede the penalty. Now you'd think with Cavani on a hat-trick the Sampdoria defence would be keeping a close eye on him but instead he was left alone with Accardi as Lavezzi pulled back a centre to Hamsik, who still scored despite being surrounded by the four defenders who should have been marking Cavani. Gargano and Hamsik combined to leave Cavani with a simple finish and complete his second hat-trick of the month. He's Uruguayan Van Basten, as I have been saying for years.

Attendance : 30,000
Assists : Lavezzi, Cavani (won pen), Lavezzi, Hamsik

JUVENTUS 1 (Marchisio 60)
UDINESE 2 (Zapata 67, Sanchez 85)

Del Piero had a shot charged down, as the ball ballooned up in the air, Marchisio took off and connected with a spectacular scissor kick which left Handanovic rooted. He doesn't do tap-ins. Brilliant, brilliant goal. Under pressure from Denis Chiellini failed to clear a corner, the ball dropped to Di Natale who caught it on the volley, Buffon saved but Zapata volleyed in the rebound. His second goal of the week. Sanchez condemned Juve to another defeat with a fantastic goal. With his back to play he flicked the ball over Melo, Abdi back heal volleyed the ball out wide to Isla, Isla centred and Sanchez tapped past Buffon. Two minutes later Bonucci went into Sanchez with a shoulder charge to get himself a second yellow and Sanchez followed suit when he jumped in with two feet spread eagled on Del Piero, although made little contact. Udinese won't miss him, they've got Bologna next.

Attendance : 17,953
Assists : Bonucci 87 (Juventus), Sanchez 88 (Udinese)

29 January 2011

LAZIO 2 (Kozak 69 Pen, Kozak 73)
FIORENTINA 0

Lazio's giant 21 year old Czech striker headed in his fourth goal, in just 9 games, on the counter after winning and converting a penalty.

Why is Mihajlovic still in a job? I know I've asked this before but I'm hoping he gets the sack.

Attendance : 15,000
Assists : Kozak

CATANIA 0
MILAN 2 (Robinho 58, Ibrahimovic 85)

Ledesma dived to get Van Bommel a second booking . Thiago Silva moved into midfield and the game suddenly sparked to life. Ibrahimovic blasted a free kick through the Catania wall, his shot proved too hot to handle for Andujar and Robinho snared the rebound. Despite their numerical disadvantage the ten men had the better of the chances. Emanuelson and Ibrahimovic drew saves from Andujar before the best little and large partnership since Leonardo Di Caprio and Kate Winslet settled the match, Ibrahimovic ran across his marker to slide in Robinho's centre.

Attendance : 16,613
Red Card : Van Bommel 54 (Milan)
