SAMPDORIA 2 (Volta 83, Maccarone 93 Pen)
CESENA 3 (Parolo 43, Giaccherini 46, Giaccherini 48)
Biabiany missed an open goal, twice. Parolo turned onto a loose ball following a mistake by Lucchini and blasted Cesena into the lead. He set-up the second with a cross to the back post, Giaccherini caught the ball on the drop with a stunning right foot volley which flew in off the left post. Another defensive mistake, another goal. Gastaldello failed to make a routine clearance, Giaccherini picked his pocket, wrestled free as the defender tried to bring him down then swept past Curci. Antonioli caught a Maccarone free kick, bounced the ball then failed to catch it and Volta tapped into an empty net. Maccarone converted a soft last minute penalty but there wasn't enough time for Samp to rescue what would have been an ill deserved point.

BOLOGNA 2 (Di Vaio 29 Pen, Ramirez 94)
CAGLIARI 2 (Cossu 59, Ragatzu 83)
Cagliari fought back after Di Vaio gave the home side the lead with a bullshit penalty. Britos and Acquafresca crashed into each other when attacking a Nainggolan cross, the ball broke to Cossu and he took a touch before driving past Viviano to score his first goal of the season. Perico had two bites of the cherry at a corner, Lazzari took the ball off him and centred before he could screw up for a third time and Ragatzu put the visitors in front. With seconds left on the clock Jimenez sent a free kick into a crowded penalty area, Agazzi flapped at the ball and Ramirez, standing to the left of the box, angled his body and un-corked a left foot volley which ripped into the roof of the net.

FIORENTINA 3 (Mutu 21, Mutu 24, Gilardino 61)
CATANIA 0
Gilardino flicked on a corner and Mutu, the Romanian Charlie Sheen, headed in at the back post. Three minutes later a Keystone Cops moment in the Catania defence gifted him a second. Gilardino tapped in a third on the counter to complete what was a rare comfortable victory which ends fear of bring dragged into a relegation dogfight.

INTER 5 (Pazzini 50, Eto'o 51, Eto'o 57, Pandev 71, Nagatomo 84)
GENOA 2 (Palacio 40, Boselli 90)
Chivu got sucked in by Paloschi allowing Palacio to run onto Konko's pass and beat Julio Cesar with a precise low shot into the bottom left corner. Inter turned the game on it's head in a chilling 7 minute spell. Eto'o released Maicon on the overlap and Pazzini hammered his centre first time past Eduardo. Another in a long, long list of Eduardo blunders gifted Inter the lead. He failed to make a routine save from Pandev and Eto'o tapped in the rebound. Konko gave a back-pass to Mesto who had Eto'o breathing down his neck, he slipped, Eto'o ran into the box, flicked the ball past Kaladze then poked into the bottom left corner. Eto'o pulled defenders forward as he ran from inside the box to the outside and played a ball into the space to Sneijder, Pandev tapped in his centre. Nagatomo pushed away Rossi as he turned onto a Kharja pass and blasted in a 5th. Wigan reject Boselli headed in a pointless 2nd for Genoa but at least he got off the mark in Serie A.

LAZIO 2 (Sculli 7, Sculli 18)
PALERMO 0
Lazio took back four place from Udinese, having lost it hours earlier, with a comfortably victory over Palermo. Sculli ran through a square Palermo defence before beating Sirigu then headed in a Ledesma cross. Pastore forced the only save Muslera had to make from a corner. Too easy, far too easy. Serse Cosmi has a lot of work to do.

JUVENTUS 0
MILAN 1 (Gattuso 68)
Flamini chipped a loose ball to the back post and Traore, yes the one on loan from Arsenal, did enough to put off Ibrahimovic. Jankulovski ran into traffic, Boateng picked up the ball and angled a pass out wide to Cassano, he checked inside Melo and with only Buffon to beat he blazed over. Terrible miss. Ibrahimovic forced a save with a free kick. Thiago Silva hit a longball into Ibrahimovic, he chested it down to Robinho, Gattuso took it off his toes and hit a tame left foot shot, Buffon fumbled and the ball trickled into the net. For the second successive game Milan's opposition didn't register a shot on target.

LECCE 1 (Giacomazzi 75)
ROMA 2 (Vucinic 32, Pizarro 90 Pen)
Vucinic scored one of the goals of the season. Standing in the centre circle with his back to goal, he flicked on a high long ball with a back heal volley, held off a defender then chased it down, ran towards the box, forced defenders to back off with a series of feints then gently toe poked the ball inside the right post. Giacomazzi deservedly headed Lecce level but Munari pissed away a point when he charged down a header with his arm.
