SAMPDORIA 1 (Portanova 46 og)
Cassano fouled Garics on the left wing before cutting inside the box and rounding Viviano but Rubin made a brilliant clearance on the line and Viviano got back in position to deny him on the rebound. Mudingayi bundled over a Samp player in the box as a throw in came in from the left and while he protested his innocence Portanova beat his own 'keeper with a diving header. Britos, who scored that impossible scissor kick own goal last week, scrambled in the equaliser from a Di Vaio set piece.

FIORENTINA 1 (Gilardino 58)
PALERMO 2 (Ilicic 20, Pastore 37)
Ilicic, who the Italian commentators rave over, scored his third goal in five games (the others were against Inter and Juventus) with an absolute rocket from the right of the penalty area into the opposite corner. Pastore played a one-two with Nocerino in midfield and raced clear of the Fiorentina defence before rounding Frey and tapping into an empty net. Gilardino scored with a typical Gilardino finish, beating Sirigu at his near post with a first time shot from Santana's center. Referee Mazzoleni manufactured a penalty against the visitors for handball but Sirigu saved Ljajic's spot kick then denied Gilardino a certain equaliser with a brilliant one handed save, Ljajic hammered a shot against the left post. Montolivo was sent packing for a professional foul.

GENOA 2 (Palacio 36, Toni 95)
BARI 1 (Barreto 52 Pen)
Although both teams have struggled for goals this season they created plenty of chances in this surprisingly open contest. Palacio took a free kick way out wide left, drawing a great save from Bari's brilliant Belgian, Gillet. Barreto was desperately unlucky when minutes later his low shot bounced against Eduardo's left post and clipped the goalkeepers heels before Castillo was flagged for offside on the follow up. Toni blocked a defender as he tried to hack clear a ball, Palacio ran into the box, flicked the ball over Masiello and slammed it into the roof of the net. In a near carbon copy of Barreto's earlier shot, Veloso's free kick rebounded off a post, caught Gillet's heals and rolled across goal. Moretti yanked at Castillo's shirt to concede the penalty and get his marching orders. Despite being down to ten men it was Genoa who dominated the closing exchanges. Toni finally beat Gillet, having been denied three times, with a last gasp winner from Milanetto's free kick.

NAPOLI 2 (Hamsik 72, Juan 83 og)
ROMA 0
Lavezzi released Dossena with a superb reverse pass over Cicinho and his inswinging centre was met first time by Hamsik who made a typically late run into the box though Lobont should have saved with his feet. Although Juan scored the own goal it was entirely donkey Burdisso's fault as he kicked Campagnaro's centre against the Brazilian.
