CATANIA 1 (Almiron 78)
CHIEVO 2 (Pellissier 46 Pen, Sammarco 73)

The home side missed two great chances. Spoli conceded the penalty with a clumsy challenge. Maxi Lopez, inexplicably linked with a move to Milan, won a penalty for Catania but Sorrentino flew across his goal to deny Lodi with a brilliant save. Catania kept missing chances and at the other end a terrible mistake by Spoli, he ran into Bellusci as he tracked Moscardelli's crossfield pass, fell over leaving Pellissier with the simple task of centring to the unmarked Sammarco. Five minutes later Sammarco scored at the other end - when getting in the way Almiron's shot.

JUVENTUS 3 (Pepe 20, Matri 48, Marchisio 65)
PALERMO 0

Juve reclaimed their false position at the top of Serie A with an easy victory over homesick Palermo. Pepe headed in a Chiellini cross. Pirlo fired an effort against the outside of the right post. Lichtsteiner played a brilliant low pass inside a defender and Matri slammed the ball into the left corner. Matri stepped over a Vucinic centre and Marchisio smashed in the third.

Attendance : 36,489
Assists : Chiellini, Lichtsteiner, Vucinic

PARMA 2 (Biabiany 58, Giovinco 76 Pen)
UDINESE 0

Udinese suffered their second loss in three games and given their over reliance on Di Natale it was only a matter of time. They had the better of the first half but their best chances fell to Floro Flores. Biabiany headed Parma into the lead from a corner. Parma gave Udinese a taste of their own medicine and tore them apart on the counter but Giovinco miss controlled Biabiany's cross then had his follow up effort cleared off the line. Biabiany picked Basta's pocket as he tried to play the ball out of his box and the defender tripped him to concede the penalty.

Udinese need to invest their money in a striker. A 21 year old Romanian midget isn't going to cut it.

Attendance : 14,239
Assists : Giovinco (ck), Biabiany (won pen)

SIENA 2 (D'Agostino 44 Pen, Gazzi 87)
ATALANTA 2 (Denis 15 Pen, Denis 53)

There was little contact as Pegolo ran off his line to clear from Denis but the Argentinean fell in a manner to suggest there was to win the opening penalty - a perfect dive. Siena were completely jobbed out of a penalty when Peluso pulled back Larrondo. Minutes later the striker was pulled back again and this time Doveri pointed to the spot. Destro should have given Siena the lead on the break. Morales was fouled on the right flank, the ball broke to Raimondi and he swung in a terrific first time cross for the Argentinean Klose to head past Pegolo. Gazzi scrambled in a deserved late equaliser.

Attendance : 8,526
Assists : Denis (won pen), Larrondo (won pen), Raimondi, n/a

ROMA 2 (Pjanic 25, Gago 54)
LECCE 1 (Bertolacci 61)

Pjanic tapped in his first Roma goal from Taddei's center. From an almost identical position overrated Spanish midget Bojan managed to slice the ball wide from about a yard out and Osvaldo also wasted a clear opening. Gago showed Roma's mediocre forwards how it's done with a swerving shot drive which surprised Julio Sergio. A failed offside trap allowed Lecce back into the game. Either side Bojan missed two more easy chances including an open goal. He was replaced by Totti. Osvaldo scored one of the great overhead kicks but his wonder strike was disallowed for a team-mates offside. Ridiculous decision - as was the decision to pay Barcelona ?12 million to take the awful Bojan on loan.

Attendance : 30,768
Assists : Taddei, Pjanic, n/a

19 November 2011

INTER 2 (Motta 54, Coutinho 60)
CAGLIARI 1 (Larrivey 88)

Pazzini and Zarate hammered shots against the crossbar. Inter created more chances in the first half than they have in the previous four. Some of their one touch passing was a joy to watch. An offside Motta controlled Pazzini's pass before beating Agazzi. Coutinho danced past a defender then drilled a shot inside the left post. Larrivey stuck out a boot to direct Nainggolan's shot past Cesar and set up a tense finish. Inter were considerably more impressive than the scoreline suggests.

Attendance : 45,289
Assists : Pazzini, Alvarez, Nainggolan
