NAPOLI 2 (Britos 15, Cavani 38 Pen)
CHIEVO 0

Britos powered home a Lavezzi corner with a header on the run. Sorrentino scissored Cavani's right leg to concede the penalty. A welcome routine victory for Napoli ahead of their Champions League clash with Chelsea who they should tear apart if they play to their potential.

CATANIA 4 (Lodi 7 Pen, Barrientos 49, Barrientos 52, Bergessio 62)
GENOA 0

Lodi converted a complete bullshit penalty when Argentinean midget (another one) Gomez did the old 'hands up or I shoot' routine under minimal if not no contact from Birsa. Barrientos tapped in a rebound after the Genoa defence failed to clear a centre. Gomez appeared to make a mess of a lightning counter attack but Bergessio recovered the ball, passed to Almiron who dummied it leaving Barrientos free on the right to score his second. Kosicky booted a goalkick into the Genoa half and Bergessio left their defence for dead before shooting past Frey.

Genoa's streak of averaging three goals a game comes to a brutal end.

UDINESE 1 (Di Natale 19)
MILAN 2 (Maxi Lopez 77, El Shaarawy 85)

Di Natale played a one-two with Man City reject Gelson Fernandes and his shot took a wicked deflection off Thiago Silva, looping over Amelia who, as usual, was hopelessly off his line. Mesbah made a brilliant tackle in front of goal to deny Armero after Seedorf had once against carelessly given the ball away. Amelia made a meal of Domizzi's feeble effort then ran into traffic from the resulting corner only to make amends with a great fingertip save on the rebound. Milan's fortunes suddenly changed when Allegri finally introduced Maxi Lopez who since his arrival he had showed as much contempt to as Man City have to Tevez for reasons I don't understand in the 72nd minute. Di Natale went off with a toe injury a minute later. Handanovic failed to make what should have been a routine save from El Shaarawy and Maxi Lopez fired in the rebound. Less than 10 minutes later Milan gave Udinese a taste of their own medicine and suckered them on the counter and ended their unbeaten home record. Thiago Silva broke up an attack and passed the ball out to Emanuelson, he dropped a cross down the left channel to Maxi Lopez and he rolled a centre through a defenders legs to El Shaarawy who beat Handanovic with a superb first time shot inside the right post.

This was Milan's most important victory of the season. Had they lost this their title chances were over. Not since Del Piero emerged has a young Italian had such a positive impact at such a big club in such a short space of time. El Shaarawy maybe not as refined as Del Piero was right off the bat but he's bigger, stronger, maybe even quicker. If he maintains his development he'll be on the fringes of the Italy squad for the 2014 World Cup. Finally Italy have another megastar in the making.

Attendance : 15,000

CAGLIARI 2 (Pinilla 56, Dessena 81)
PALERMO 1 (Hernandez 83)

Ibarbo, Cagliari's wonderfully gifted 21 year old Colombian forward, played a give and go with Ribeiro before pulling back a perfectly weighted centre for Pinilla to score against his former club. Pinilla floored Viviano with a fiercely struck free kick and Dessena tapped in the rebound. Seconds later Perico charged down a shot with his arms to concede the penalty.

Attendance : 6,000

LAZIO 3 (Hernanes 52, Lulic 61, Kozak 63)
CESENA 2 (Mutu 15, Iaquinta 34 Pen)

Iaquinta who is deceptively quick for his size, held off Biava and pulled back a centre for Mutu, 0-1. Konko shoved Mutu over to concede a penalty and earn a red card and another ex-Juventino, Iaquinta, converted. Klose turned a defender before passing into Hernanes, he flicked the ball away from Rodriguez and took two steps forward before smashing a half volley into the roof of the net. FANTASTIC goal. Klose headed down a cross, Kozak miss controlled and Lulic, the best left back in Serie A, shot in off Antonioli. Rodriguez made a mess of clearing a corner and Kozak fired a shot straight at Antonioli who let it slip through his fingers. His first goal in an injury hit season. Time for old man Antonioli to hang up his gloves.

Kozak is another of the exciting young-ish (he's 22) players coming through in Serie A.

Attendance : 15,000
Red Card : Konko 33 (Lazio)
Assists : Iaquinta, Mutu (won pen), Klose, Kozak, n/a
