NAPOLI 2 (Cavani 21, Cannavaro 37)
NOVARA 0

The game was held up after the ref hurt his shoulder. Gemiti was on post duty as Napoli played a corner. Maggio rose above the defence and met a cross with a bullet header which Gemiti headed off the line. Amazing clearance. Cavani scored after an insane 40 yard back pass to Fontana saw him miss-kick the clearance, Dzemaili centred and Cavani tapped into an empty net. Mascara miss controlled a ball when trying to launch a counter, Zuniga picked his pocket, passed out wide to Cavani, his shot was saved and Cannavaro blasted in a close range rebound.

CESENA 2 (Santana 26, Rennella 28)
PALERMO 2 (Bertolo 20, Silvestre 47)

Palermo's notoriously clumsy centreback Munoz pulled a ball out of the air, turned and ran away from one defender, sold a dummy to another and laid on a goal for Bertolo. Santana rescued an overhit cross, sent two defenders on the backsides in perfect synchronisation with a fabulous dummy as he ran into the box, weaved between two more then drilled a shot inside the left post. Wonderful goal. 23 year old French striker Rennella gave Cesena the lead after Palermo failed to clear their lines from a corner. It was his first Serie A goal. Silvestre headed in the equaliser from a Bertolo corner. Great game.

GENOA 1 (Del Grosso 79 og)
SIENA 4 (Brienza 17, Destro 19, Brienza 37, Giorgi 49)

Brienza began the rout with a stunning left footed free kick. Another set piece, another goal. Del Grosso sent a high cross upto the back post and Destro got between three defenders to head over Frey. Brienza flicked up a center and from inside the D thumped a low drive inside the right post. Brilliant goal. Five minutes after Giorgi hammered in another goal the Genoa fans rioted. Hundreds marched to the fences to hurl abuse at the players and smoke bombs were rained down on the pitch. Fans also blocked the tunnel preventing players from leaving. The fans demanded the players remove their shirts and they weren't fit to wear them, captain Rossi collected the shirts in a pile, Sculli was the only player who refused and confronted the fans, weeping. They backed off and the game restarted! Del Grosso turned a Palacio centre into his own net.

Madman Malesani was fired, for a second time, hours later. Only in Serie A.

LAZIO 1 (Matuzalem 82)
LECCE 1 (Bojinov 91)

Lazio scored completely against the run of play, midget Matuzalem met Scaloni cross with a bullet header. Bojinov equalised at the death following an incredible sequence of play in which Lecce had three shots charged down.

Attendance : 32,000
Assists : Scaloni, n/a

MILAN 1 (Ibrahimovic 90)
BOLOGNA 1 (Ramirez 26)

Diamanti tackled Van Bommel as he tried to pass a ball across midfield, he raced upfield and rolled a pass to Ramirez who beat Abbiati as he was tackled by Abate. Milan have been defending high in recent weeks in Silva's absence and they were caught out by a longball, Mudingayi held off Bonera, who was lucky not to concede a penalty, but shot wide. Ibrahimovic wrongly had a goal disallowed for offside. Bonera was sent off for hacking down Acquafresca. Ibrahimovic equalised with a brilliant mid-air volley at the back post. Robinho wasted a free header in injury time.

Attendance : 52,000
Red Card : Bonera 82 (Milan)
Assists : Diamanti, Emanuelson

JUVENTUS 4 (Vidal 4, Vidal 8, Pirlo 29, Marchisio 53)
ROMA 0

Vidal scored two near identical goals. Despite the presence of five Roma players in the box De Ceglie managed to find Vidal free at the back post and he smashed a first time shot inside the left post. His second was another missile, from Vucinic's lay off. Vucinic released Marchisio with a great ball over a hopelessly square Roma defence, Stekelenburg ran off his line and made a half arsed attempt to slide tackle Marchisio while pulling his feet away, red card, penalty. Curci made a brilliant save but Pirlo scored on the rebound. Man of the match Vucinic, who has been immense since the Fiorentina game, back healed a De Ceglie centre and Marchisio drilled a first time shot into the bottom right corner.

The fixture list doesn't really matter as this point. Neither side have difficult fixtures and it's hard to see Juventus giving up what is effectively a four point lead due to their head to head record with five games left. They've already had two runs of games in which they dropped points, it's hard to believe they'll have another. Milan are simply not able or willing to work as hard for the scudetto as Juventus.

Attendance : 39,542
Red Card : Stekelenburg 26 (Roma)

CATANIA 2 (Gomez 31, Seymour 85)
ATALANTA 0

Gomez turned onto a free kick and from about 300 yards out sent a shot screaming into the top right corner. Fantastic goal. Consigli parried down Catellani shot then as he got to his feet made a cowardly, feeble attempt to punch away the rebound, Catellani headed across goal and Seymour volleyed into an empty net.
