Serie A Round 8

8 November 1998

Juve blow a 2-0 lead away to Udinese and there are also draws for Roma and
Parma. Lazio and Fiorentina chalk up 4-1 victories to leave things tight at the
top.

BARI 1-1 PARMA
Masinga 76 Fuser 46

Parma had a goal disallowed for offside? Veron hurled a Bari player to the floor
and then set-up Fuser for a goal. If the player hadn't exaggerated the fall maybe
the ref would have gave a free kick. Usual Parma story, they dominated
possession but rarely tested Mancini. Masinga volleyed in a poor clearance from a
corner in what looked like Bari's only attack. Fuser was sent off for sticking his
tongue out and giving the finger to Neqrouz, honest, I'm not making this shit up!
Neqrouz was sent off for er being on the receiving end of Fuser's abuse or
something. Parma's attack is so lame even Masinga would probably score more
goals for them than either Chiesa or Crespo.

Red Card(s) : Neqrouz 62 (Bari), Fuser 62 (Parma)
Attendance : 17,782

BOLOGNA 1-1 ROMA
Signori 17 P Sergio 15

Delvecchio had a goal disallowed for offside. Paulo Sergio gave Roma the lead
with a header from Totti's cross. Bia punted a ball upfield and Signori made the
most of a balls up in Roma's defence to score his first league goal of the season.
Chimenti pulled off some incredible saves. Bia was sent off for kicking Di Biagio's
arse.

Red Card(s) : Bia 59 (Bologna)
Attendance : 33,045

CAGLIARI 3-2 PIACENZA
Muzzi 20, 61 Buso 36
Kallon 54 S Inzaghi 57

Vasari was unlucky not to win the Norman Wisdom comedy moment of the week
for falling on his arse when attempting to take a corner. Muzzi scored with a
great overhead kick from O'Neill's cross. Buso's shot took a deflection on the way
to goal. Muzzi's flick on seemed to be handled by a Piacenza player but Kallon
didn't mess about and tucked the ball past Fiori. Inzaghi launched himself off
Pisanu's back (Cagliari forward) and headed Piacenza level. Cavezzi surged into
attack and played a great through ball for Muzzi to score with a first time shot
and seal the 3 points. Muzzi struck the post with a header, Stroppa hit the
crossbar from a free kick.

Attendance : 18,000

FIORENTINA 4-1 VENEZIA
Padalino 22 Schwoch 42 (Pen)
Batistuta 40, 64
Rui Costa 62 (Pen)

The cameramen should be shot for using such wide angles. Padalino scored from
a tap-in after a goalmouth scramble. Rui Costa intercepted a ball for only the
second time in his career and picked up Batistuta with a great long pass and he
chipped Taibi. He looked miles offside. Gioacchini won a penalty, Scwoch
converted. Oliveira won a penalty for fouling Luppi and if you figure that one
out please let me know. Rui Costa converted and Batistuta grabbed his second
thanks to a great pass from Edmundo. Fiorentina missed three other great
chances as the pretenders storm back into top spot.

Attendance : 31,099

LAZIO 4-1 EMPOLI
Negro 22, 26 Carparelli 81
Salas 30
Mancini 61

Negro gave Lazio a two goal lead, the first a poke off Stankovic's shot and the
second a sensational shot from outside the box. Salas closed down Sereni as he
attempted a clearance from a back pass, Sereni tried to dummy Salas but ended
up smashing the ball of the Chilean's legs. Nedved set away Mancini on three
occasions with glorious passes and the fraud finally converted at the third
attempt. Carparelli scored from Pane's pass. An outstanding display from Nedved,
he should be at a more prestigious club.

Attendance : 35,000

PERUGIA 3-1 VICENZA
Rapaic 26 Ambrosetti 30
Nakata 52 (Pen)
Melli 74

Rapaic headed in Ze Maria's cross. Brivio launched a goal kick, Zauli and Schenardi
combined for Ambrosetti to equalise. Rapaic won a penalty and Stovini was sent
off for the challenge. Looked a legit penalty. Nakata converted twice, the ref
ordered the kick to be re-taken. Multiple reject Melli whacked in a loose ball for
Perugia's third.

Red Card(s) : Stovini 51 (Vicenza)
Attendance : 15,000

SAMPDORIA 1-0 SALERNITANA
Ortega 50 (Pen)

Ortega dive, Ortega penalty and 3 points. Incredibly Sampdoria are the only team
to keep a clean sheet this week. Lassisi was harshly sent off for clearing the ball
with a player on the floor. Another off the charts display from Ortega, the chipped
pass he gave to Palmieri has to be seen to be believed.

Red Card(s) : Lassisi 80
Attendance : 34,500

UDINESE 2-2 JUVENTUS
Bachini 65 Zidane 43
Sosa 94 Inzaghi 49

Zidane headed Juve in front from Birindelli's cross and then, like a twat, jumped
and fell off the advertising boards. Inzaghi made it 2-0 with a poke off
Tacchinardi's shot. A quick corner from Walem caught Juve cold, midget Bachini
with the header. Walem also had a hand in the equaliser, a long pass flicked on
by Amoroso and finished off by Sosa. Amoroso was booked for diving in the box.
If he didn't make a meal of the challenge he probably would have won a penalty
but it was a strange decision given the ref was awarding free kicks to Amoroso
for blatant dives outside the box. Ferrara was back, Juve's defence still sucked.

Attendance : 33,000

MILAN 2-2 INTER
Weah 12 Ronaldo 6
Albertini 59 (Pen) Moriero 48

A superb long pass from Moriero was beautifully killed by Zamorano and he fed
Ronaldo for his first league goal from open play this season. Bierhoff and Weah
linked superbly for Milan's first although West got his foot to the ball he couldn't
prevent Weah from scoring. Ronaldo didn't start the second half. Pagliuca pulled
off a miracle save to deny Bierhoff. Moriero turned and shot past Rossi from
Djorkaeff's cross, he was miles offside. Milan won a penalty when Ganz was
flattened by Colonnese, just teasing Riff! It was the second forward fouls the
defender but wins a penalty of the week. Albertini scored his first league goal
since the first derby of last season. Weah was denied by another of Pagliuca's
Hollywood saves. Milan had the better of the second half. Zac is making the same
mistakes as Capello and picking crap players when better talent sits on the bench.
Boban and Albertini are hopeless together and leave the team weak in the centre
of midfield, Ambrosini's tackling could have made the difference. Costacurta is too
old, too slow and sucks too much.
