SERIE A ROUND 2

After the second week of the season no team is left with a 100% record. Toldo
gifts Reggina an equaliser, Lazio are held away to Bari and Roma V Inter
ends goal-less.

11 SEPTEMBER 1999

REGGINA 2-2 FIORENTINA
Kallon 17 (Pen) Firicano 33
Reggi 85 Heinrich 40

Reggina were awarded a penalty for a foul on Possanzini, Kallon converted.
Heinrich headed Rui Costa's free kick across the face of goal and Firicano
scrambled in from close range. Heinrich punished more slack marking from a
Chiesa free kick to give Fiorentina the lead. Reggi was left with a tap in
after Toldo dropped what should have been a routine catch. Batistuta was
booked.

Attendance : 24,696

UDINESE 3-0 PIACENZA
Poggi 7 (Pen)
Locatelli 74
Muzzi 81

Locatelli won a penalty, Poggi converted. Locatelli raced onto a great pass
from Jorgensen on the left wing and made his way into the box, flicked the
ball past a defender and crossed in the back of the net. Muzzi grabbed the
third.

Attendance : 18,000

BARI 0-0 LAZIO

The match was played on one of the ugliest pitches I've ever seen, huge bald
patches everywhere. It looked even worse than the San Siro in the early 90's.
Lazio were without Veron but still created a decent number of chances.
Inzaghi went looking for a penalty which bought an ironic smile from Bari
coach Fachetti who earlier in the week criticised Inzaghi for being a diving
twat (my words, not his). Mancini blew a great chance late on from a
Mihajlovic free kick.

Attendance : 33,000

12 SEPTEMBER 1999

CAGLIARI 0-1 JUVENTUS
							Conte 62

Conte won the match with a great neck jarring diving header from Del Piero's
corner. Oliveira blasted a volley past Van Der Sar but the goal was wrongly
disallowed for offside.

Attendance : 30,000

MILAN 3-1 PERUGIA
Bierhoff 27 Materazzi 40
Shevchenko 59
Leonardo 71

Bierhoff was gifted a goal thanks to Olive's hospital pass. He scored with
his feet just in case you're wondering. Materazzi was left with a tap in
following a brilliant play from Nakata, despite being sandwiched between
3 players and with his back to goal he somehow escaped and crossed to the
far post. Serginho ran onto a disguised pass from Ambrosini and from the
goal-line chipped the ball onto Shevchenko's head, brilliant assist. Leonardo
curled in a free kick. Serginho had a stellar game and was unlucky not to
score. Weah played well wide on the left side of attack and Shevchenko
could have had a hat-trick.

Attendance : 55,000

PARMA 1-1 BOLOGNA
Ingesson 82 (og) Signori 47

Followed an abysmal performance against the Danes, Cannavaro's misery
continued as Signori punished his half hearted clearance by drilling a low
shot past Buffon. Cannavaro made amends with a great block tackle to
deny Signori minutes later. Ventola missed an open goal from Signori's
cross. Stanic headed inches wide from a corner and Cannavaro finally did
something right, albeit half arsed, as he pressured Ingesson into headed
past his Pagliuca. Stanic was sent off for diving and full credit to the ref,
Rodomonti, for having the balls to make that decision against the home team.
Great game but Parma's defence continues to look suspect.

Red Card(s) : Stanic 84 (Parma)
Attendance : 22,000

TORINO 2-1 VENEZIA
Ferrante 64 Valtolina 34
Artistico 87

Valtolina ran onto a through pass from Petkovic to give Venezia the lead.
Brioschi was sent off for a dirty foul on Lentini. Torino equalised from a
thrown in, Ivic turned brilliantly in the box and squared for Ferrante to
poke in. Artistico gave Torino the points with an almost identical finish
from Ferrante's cross.

Red Card(s) : Brioschi 51 (Venezia)
Attendance : 20,000

VERONA 2-0 LECCE
Marasco 17
Aglietti 43

Marasco gave Verona the lead via a deflected volley off Lima. Lecce should
have been awarded a penalty for a blatant handball by Mezzano. Aglietti
headed in Melis' cross. Adailton embarrassed himself with an incredible miss
from close range.

Attendance : 13,500

ROMA 0-0 INTER

Peruzzi saved Inter from a heavy defeat with a string of great saves. First
to deny Montella after a hospital pass from granddad Blanc, then from long
ranges efforts by Cafu and Montella. Vieri came on for Ronaldo in the 2nd
half to little effect. Peruzzi continued where he left off in the 2nd half to
deny Di Francesco and Assuncao. So far Lippi has resisted starting with
Ronaldo and Vieri and Recoba hasn't been used. It's early days of course.

Attendance : 80,000
