SERIE A ROUND 29

STRIKE!

Two late goals keep Juventus 3 points clear of Lazio who narrowly beat
Perugia. Inter are hammered by Udinese and the other Champions League
hopefuls all draw. Verona's fourth win in a row sees them reach the dizzy
heights of 10th place. Bari are dragged into the relegation battle as they
loose to relegation certainties Piacenza.

Only two match reports today as I got no highlights due to a strike by the
Italian press federation.

8 APRIL 2000

TORINO 2-2 PARMA
Sommese 19 Crespo 52
Silenzi 75 Amoruso 74

UDINESE 3-0 INTER
Sosa 5, 44, 67

Locatelli aimed a through ball at Muzzi, Simic's clearance went straight to Sosa
who brilliantly redirected the rebound past Peruzzi. Cordoba almost turned Fiore's
cross into his own net. From the resulting corner Van der Vegt's header was
cleared off the line by Georgatos, Locatelli fired the ball back into the box
as it hit Sosa Peruzzi dived and the Argentinean turned and shot for his
second.

Muzzi missed an open goal and then had a shot saved when brilliantly played
in by Van der Vegt but Sosa was on hand to put away the ball and complete
his hat trick. Bisgaard flashed a shot wide following trademark hard running
by Muzzi and Peruzzi denied Muzzi once again with a tremendous one handed
save.

Turci could have taken the day off, his goal was never threatened. Udinese
are the best footballing side in Serie A, some of their one touch passing is
fabulous. Coach Luigi Di Canio deserves a ton of credit for doing a
tremendous job on a team that was ripped apart during the summer. Another
insipid display from Inter. They almost seem to be determined to throw away a
Champions League place.

MILAN 1-1 FIORENTINA
Leonardo 75 Di Livio 70

Toldo clawed out a Maldini header from a free kick in the first minute and
wasn't troubled until the end of the first half when De Ascentis' volley
deflected off Ambrosini. Fiorentina only threatened once in the first half,
De Ascentis blocking a goal bound shot by Mijatovic. Fiorentina scored
on the counter attack, Padalino headed out a cross, Mijatovic ran deep from
his own half and picked out Di Livio who made a blind run on the outside,
Di Livio brilliantly curled a first time shot past Abbiati. Repka gifted
Milan the equaliser when he kicked the ball against Leonardo's boot and it
flew past Toldo. Costacurta almost won the match for Milan with a brilliant
30yd half volley which would have been identical to his last league goal
scored against Roma in 1991.
