DYNAMO KYIV 2-0 BAYERN MUNICH
Kaladze 34
Demetradze 72
Kyiv seemed to have little trouble in disposing of Bayern's reserve team. Fink's
weak clearance from a corner went straight to Kaladze and he headed in
through a ruck of bodies. Mamedov launched a humongous throw in, Husin
flicked on and Demetradze went airborne to fire past Bayern's reserve 'keeper
with a spectacular overhead kick. Unfortunately it wasn't enough as Dynamo
paid the price for a miserable performance at home to Real Madrid and
Shovkovskyi's gift in the return.
ROSENBORG 0-1 REAL MADRID
Raul 3
Hierro launched a ball over the top, as Rosenborg waiting for the linesman to
flag for offside Raul ran through and shot past Arason. McManaman volleyed
against the post. Rosenborg then displayed their ability to shoot their load in
front of goal. Carew was once again the main culprit, wasting four great
chances. Guti was sent off for wasting time.

BAYERN MUNICH 2-1 ROSENBORG
Scholl 11 Carew 64
P Sergio 39 (Pen)
Carew had a point blank header brilliantly saved by Khan. Carew once again
met Skammelsrud's corner but headed wide. Two dives by Paulo Sergio lead
to two goals. He pathetically went down under a challenge from
Skammerlsrud to win a free kick. Scholl beautifully curled the ball into the
net. He then bounced himself off Bragstad, the inept ref bought it and Sergio
scored from the spot. In between Carew wasted another chance, as Bayern
stepped up to play offside he was left with the ball inches from goal but shot
wide. Carew slid in to meet Knutsen's cross but by then Bayern had already
stepped off the gas and were rarely troubled.
REAL MADRID 2-2 DYNAMO KYIV
Raul 14 (Pen) Khatskevich 42
Roberto Carlos 72 Hierro 56 (og)
Raul made an incredible miss from about 6yds. Morientes turned Guerassimenko
inside out before being chopped down in the box. Raul converted in off the post.
Demetradze then went down way too easily in the box after brushing against
Salgado. Casillas saved Rebrov's spot kick. Shovkovskyi saved a penalty at the
other end, Raul conning the ref into awarding one and then shooting straight at
the 'keeper, Geremi blasting horribly wide from the rebound. The other three
goals were the result of some wretched mistakes. Seven Real Madrid players
watched Holovko's corner bounce in the box and Khatskevich headed in. Just
incredibly bad defending. Hierro tried to cut out Demetradze's cross but ended
up putting the ball past Casillas and Shovkovskyi dropped what was probably
one of the weakest free kicks Roberto Carlos has ever struck. Real had the
better chances but crucially failed to test the abysmal Shovkovskyi.
Dynamo Kyiv and Real Madrid are now level on 7 points but Real Madrid have
the superior head to head record. If Real win their remaining match, away to
Rosenborg, they're in the Quarter Finals, if not then they need Dynamo Kyiv
to slip up in their last match, away to Bayern who are likely to field a
weakened side.
29 FEBRUARY 2000
DYNAMO KIEV 2-1 ROSENBORG
Khatskevich 10 Jakobsen 48
Rebrov 29
Rebrov had already gone close with a diving header before Khatskevich gave
Dynamo the lead. Bialkevich feigned to shoot with his right foot, dragged the
ball back onto his left and passed to Khatskevich who blasted a shot with the
outside of his foot past Jamtfall, awesome finish, awesome assist. From
absolutely nowhere Rebrov unleashed a shot from 30yds past Jamtfall.
Jakobsen fired a shot through a ruck of players from a corner and saw another
shot tipped onto the post by Shovkovskyi.
REAL MADRID 2-4 BAYERN MUNICH
Morientes 25 Scholl 21
Raul 48 Effenberg 24
Fink 39
P Sergio 66
Paulo Sergio ran onto an excellent pass from Elber, held off Roberto Carlos but
his shot was brilliantly saved by the feet of Casillas. Many young 'keepers seem
to perfected this art, made fashionable by Peruzzi in recent seasons. Sergio
danced his way through the Real Madrid defence but shot horribly wide with
only Casillas to beat. Elber wasted another great chance. Khan made the first
of many brilliant saves to deny a Roberto Carlos special. Bayern took a deserved
lead, Hierro didn't get enough on another superb ball from Elber and Scholl
raced clear before lifting the ball over Casillas. Elber won a free kick wide on
the right of goal, the angle was against Effenburg but Real didn't bother to
put up much of a wall and were duly punished when he curled the ball inside
the post. Real instantly pulled one back, Raul brilliantly stepped inside his
marker before unleashing a shot with cannoned off the crossbar and Morientes
dived to head in. Bayern regained their two goal lead following a brilliant move
on the right flank, Effenburg passed to Sergio, he played the ball into
Salihamidzic who attempted a one-two with Elber but Elber back heeled to
the onrushing Fink and he slammed a low shot past Casillas. Beautiful move.
Jamtfall made a fantastic save from Bialkevich's free kick but in doing so his
momentum carried him round and the ball bounced off his feet, Demetradze
steamed in and hammered his shot off the post.
Hierro launched a free kick out wide to Roberto Carlos and he hit an absolutely
magnificent first time cross that Beckham would have been proud of to the far
post leaving Raul with a tap in. Khan made a ridiculously overly dramatic save
from Salgado's shot. Casillas denied Effenburg a second free kick goal but from
the resulting corner Paulo Sergio headed Bayern further in front. Khan made a
phenomenal save to keep out Raul as Real once again almost scored an
immediate goal. Sergio's ran onto a brilliant cross from Effenburg but Casillas'
feet once again came to the rescue. Hierro headed over from a corner, Khan
would have probably saved it anyway! What a match! Up there with Barcelona
V Man United from last season.
7 DECEMBER 1999
REAL MADRID 3-1 ROSENBORG
Raul 16 Carew 48
Savio 85
Roberto Carlos 90
It took Real Madrid 15 seconds to have their first shot on target. Roberto Carlos
played the ball down the wing for Raul who found Guti with a beautiful pass,
he played a one-two with Morientes and blasted a shot at Jamtfall, Morientes
followed up but his shot was blocked via handball by Berg. Jamtfall came out
to claim a corner and was caught in no man's land fortunately Rosenborg
managed to clear Raul's header off the line. Two corners later Morientes was
denied what looked a certain goal by a great block from Johnsen. Real were
caught out from a ball over the top but Hierro came to the rescue with a
fantastic tackle to deny Jakobsen. Jamtfall dropped a decently stuck but
saveable shot from Savio, Raul slotted in the rebound. Morientes headed over
from a corner when left unmarked in front of goal. Morientes went down in
the box after Hoftun gave him a love tap, Jamtfall who had dropped
everything typically pulled off a save from Hierro's penalty.
Carew stunned the three home fans who bothered to turn up for this match by
heading Rosenborg level from Skammerlsrud's corner. Bergdolmo ran through
two Real players before picking out Strand with a fantastic cross but he
headed way over. Savio spun around a defender (great pass from Redondo),
played a one-two with Morientes and smashed the ball high into the net.
Savio won a free kick, Raul touched the ball back to Roberto Carlos, he
jinked his way into the box and placed his shot into the bottom right
corner of the net.
Everyone will ask the obvious question, why are Real Madrid 17th in La Liga
but pissing it in Europe? Don't know. Roberto Carlos is up there with
Claudio Lopez as the best player in this year's competition. Despite the
late goals Real were well worth their victory and played some great football.
BAYERN MUNICH 2-1 DYNAMO KYIV
Jancker 6 Rebrov 58
Paulo Sergio 80
Dmytrulin forced Paulo Sergio to back track and stripped the ball off him to
start a trademark Dynamo Kyiv counter attack, he played in Rebrov who shot
over under pressure from Kuffour. Bayern won two corners in quick succession
on the second Shovkovskyi caught the ball and dropped it right in front of
Jancker. 1-0.
Shovkovskyi's goal kick landed at the feet of Tarnat he split the admittedly
porous Rosenborg defence to find Jancker but he shot wide. A close call for
Bayern at the other end, a fine run by sub Guerassomenko started the move,
he passed to Rebrov who crossed into the box but Bialkevich bottled out of
throwing himself at the ball despite a gaping goal. Minutes later the sub
(I'm not typing that again) whipped in a cross and Rebrov volleyed in as the
Bayern defence ball watched waiting for offside. Jancker shot wide minutes
later when put through by Santa Cruz. Karnash forced Khan to make one of
his trademark Hollywood saves from a well struck shot. Shovkovskyi finally
got something right as he made a great save to keep out Paulo Sergio's low
drive. Jancker flicked on a throw in, Sergio tapped in at the far post.
24 NOVEMBER 1999
DYNAMO KYIV 1-2 REAL MADRID
Rebrov 86 (Pen) Morientes 17
Raul 48
After a great Real Madrid move broke down Kyiv's keeper kicked the ball
straight to Roberto Carlos, his crossed was dummied by Raul and Morientes
slid in to give Real the lead. Rebrov had an immediate equaliser wrongly
disallowed for handball.
An early goal in the second half killed off Kyiv, Seedorf picked up the ball as
Real were defending a corner and played a one-two with Guti before releasing
Savio on the left wing, his back heel was superbly chipped over Shovkovskyi
by Raul. Iachin wasted Kyiv's best chance of the second half, a poor first touch
gave Bizzari time to close him down when left unmarked in front of goal.
Bialkevich hurled himself between Campo and Karembeu to win a penalty.
Rebrov converted. Shovkovskyi made a great save to keep out a Roberto
Carlos free kick. Khatskevitch wasted a chance to equalise when he blasted
a volley wide as Real held on for victory.
A solid display from Real but Seedorf is still a lazy twat.
ROSENBORG 1-1 BAYERN MUNICH
Skammerlsrud 47 Jancker 10
Jancker stunned the home crowd with an early goal following good work by
Paulo Sergio. Didn't see the rest of the first half.
Skammerlsrud punished Fink's weakly headed clearance by half volleying a low
shot past Kahn. Scholl put the ball through Bergdolmo's legs before weakly
shooting at goal. Fink stole a ball in midfield and played in Jancker who again
shot over from close range when clean through. It was then time for an Oliver
Kahn special, he made a fantastic one handed diving save from Dahlum
minutes before full time. Bayern broke straight from the corner Tarnat passed
to Zickler who drove into the box and crossed for Salihamidzic, he initially
miss-controlled and as he attempted to slide in the rebound Jamtfall threw
himself at the ball at the expense of a corner.
