Henry was a surprise selection in Aime Jacquet's 1998 World Cup squad and although
he faded after the group stages his pace and trickery won him a contract with
Juventus. Henry struggled to adapt to Italian football and was rescued after a
miserable few months by Arsene Wenger, who coached him at Monaco.

At Arsenal Henry forward an outstanding partnership alongside Dennis 'Mr Perfect'
Bergkamp and eventually ended Man United's three year reign as Champions.

Having arrived at the 2002 World Cup as the uncrowned 'best player in the World'
but the World and European champions made the worst defence of a World Cup in
the competition's history. Having missed chances in a shock defeat against Senegal,
Henry was sent off in the team's second match against Uruguay and watched from
the stands as France bowed out in the group stages following defeat to Denmark.

Arsenal were running away with the league before an incredible collapse saw them
piped to the title by Manchester United. The Gunners rebounded to win the league
unbeaten the following season before more disappointment in a France shirt at the
2004 European Championships.

Henry seemed to answer question marks over his big match temperament with
outstanding performances for Arsenal in Champions League ties against heavyweights
Juventus and Real Madrid and for France in the 2006 World Cup finals with goals
against Spain and Brazil however he finished on the losing side in both competitions
against Barcelona and Italy respectively.
