Did not concede goals in 207 of the 438 games (47%) he played for Dinamo Moscow
and the USSR national team. A national record.

Between 1951-1953 he was playing ice hockey as a goalkeeper for Dinamo Moscow,
winning the Russian cup in 1953.

Since 1994 the best goalkeeper in each World Cup has been awarded the 'Lev Yashin'
award. The winners to date are :
