BLACKBURN 0
MANCHESTER CITY 1 (Dzeko 75)

Man United move nine points clear of Chelsea and Arsenal but they left it late to see off a resilient Everton team. After a slow start, United took more control as the First half wore on with Nani cutting inside and firing straight at Tim Howard whilst Javier Hernandez made the Everton keeper work harder with an excellent save from his first time shot. Nani had another great chance late on but his goalbound effort hit Hernandez and flew safely across goal and wide. After the interval United again stuttered and almost paid the penalty, literally, when Victor Anichebe burst clear on the left and was bundled over by Rio Ferdinand however the ref waved play on. Cometh the hour, cometh the man as Michael Owen came on for Nani but it was the visitors who almost netted when Jack Rodwell's low drive was tipped wide by Edwin Van Der Sar. Owen's prophecy almost came true when he headed Fabio's cross against the near post as Ryan Giggs then came on to replace Darron Gibson with a little over 15 minutes to go. Wayne Rooney then had a couple of efforts with a free kick pushed over and from the corner he sliced a long range shot well wide. Suddenly it was all United as Antonio Valencia's stinging shot was blocked and from the loose ball, Hernandez had a close range header palmed over the bar by Howard. It was no surprise, but plenty of relief around Old Trafford, when United finally broke through as Valencia's deep cross was met by a downward header from Hernandez which bounced inside the near post and in. The five added minutes earned collective groans around the stadium but aside from a Tim Cahill header easily held by Van Der Sar then there were no problems for the hosts.

BOLTON 2 (Sturridge 38, Cohen 90)
ARSENAL 1 (Van Persie 48)

Arsenal's title hopes are effectively over after defeat at Bolton which leaves them nine points behind Man United with four games left. Both clubs had chances in an end-to-end first half but the hosts were the ones to finally break through when a corner was headed goalwards by Gary Cahill and although it may have been over the line before Samir Nasri blocked it, Daniel Sturridge was quickest to the rebound to nod in from a couple of yards out. Five minutes later, Arsenal came desperately close to levelling matters when Cesc Fabregas crashed a long range effort against the post. Within a minute of the second half, Sturridge burst past Johan Djourou and went down in the area and the ref pointed to the spot although there was very little contact. Justice was done when keeper Szczesny kept out a poor kick from Kevin Davies with his legs. It proved vital as the visitors levelled inside a minute as Fabregas found Robin Van Persie and his scuffed shot from the edge of the area bobbled past the keeper and inside the post. Midway through the half, Nasri blew a glorious chance as he burst through and went for power with only the keeper to beat but blasted it straight at Jussi Jaaskelainen and then couldn't force the rebound in from a tight angle. With time edging away, Johan Elmander broke clear on a rare Bolton attack to force a save from the keeper and from the resulting corner, sub Tamir Cohen sent a stinging near post header into the net from Matt Taylor's ball in.

ASTON VILLA 1 (Bent 43)
STOKE 1 (Jones 20)

Villa and Stoke should both be safe after sharing the spoils at Villa Park. Stoke led when Rory Delap's long throw was headed in by Kenwyne Jones but Villa grabbed an equaliser with a cross from Kyle Walker which was brilliantly headed in off the post by Darren Bent.

Attendance : 35,235
Assists : Delap, Walker

BLACKPOOL 1 (Campbell 32)
NEWCASTLE 1 (Lovenkrands 17)

Blackpool are out of the bottom three on goal difference on just one goal after coming from behind to draw at home to Newcastle. The visitors led when Charlie Adam's poor pass was collected by Joey Barton who found Peter Lovenkrands who drilled a low shot inside the near post. Blackpool levelled - just - when DJ Campbell's near post flick from Adam's corner was judged to have crossed the line before Jose Enrique headed clear. Replays proved little either way.

Attendance : 16,003

CHELSEA 3 (Lampard 44, Torres 84, Malouda 93)
WEST HAM 0

Chelsea kept up the pressure on Man United as they saw off West Ham in a rainstorm at Stamford Bridge. They opened the scoring on half time when Ashley Cole crossed for Frank Lampard to wallop the ball into the roof of the net. Enter sub Fernando Torres to finally break his Chelsea goal duck as he was sent clear by Nik Anelka and although the ball held up on the wet turf, he turned well and found the corner to much relief no doubt. They wrapped it up in stoppage time when Torres played the ball to Florent Malouda to thump in the third from the edge of the area.

Attendance : 41,656
Assists : Cole, Anelka, Torres

LIVERPOOL 5 (Maxi 7, Kuyt 23, Maxi 66, Maxi 73, Cole 86)
BIRMINGHAM 0

Maxi Rodriguez netted a hat trick as Liverpool hit five past Birmingham. His first came early when he scored from close range after Ben Foster fumbled a shot from Jay Spearing. Foster had an afternoon to forget and was injured in the build up for the second as he blocked shots from Luis Suarez and Dirk Kuyt and although the latter followed up to score, Foster had collided with his defender and later was replaced by Colin Doyle. He could do little to stop Rodriguez after the break as he doubled his own tally with a far post volley from a Suarez cross and then completed his triple with a follow up after his initial shot had been half saved by Doyle. Forgotten man Joe Cole added a late fifth as he collected a pass wide from Kuyt and cut inside and having made space for a shot, found the net via the hand of Doyle.

SUNDERLAND 4 (Gyan 55, Henderson 66, Sessegnon 73 Pen, Henderson 77)
WIGAN 2 (Diame 52, Di Santo 90)

Sunderland are surely safe from the drop after a remarkable second half against Wigan. Already hit hard by injuries, Sunderland lost THREE more men to various injuries during this game and to add insult, they initially went behind early in the second half when Mohammed Diame collected a pass from Charles N'Zogbia, turned and hit a superb shot into the net from 25 yards. Cue a stunning revival as Sunderland then found the net four times in 22 minutes, starting with Asamoah Gyan who headed in Steed Malbranque's cross. Gyan then went off injured before Jordan Henderson put the hosts ahead as he chested down Sully Muntari's cross and found the net with a fine near post shot. Sunderland were suddenly unstoppable as Stephane Sessegnon was bundled over by Antolin Alcaraz and slotted in the penalty himself before Henderson grabbed his second and Sunderland's fourth with a cool finish after being found in miles of space by Sessegnon. Wigan did find a consolation late on when Victor Moses drilled a low cross in for Franco Di Santo to tap in but this was Sunderland's day.

TOTTENHAM 2 (Pavlyuchenko 27, Defoe 66)
WEST BROM 2 (Odemwingie 5, Cox 81)

Spurs missed the chance to go into fourth as they were held at home by West Brom. The Baggies went ahead early on as a long crossfield pass from Carlos Vela found Peter Odemwingie and after holding off the challenge of a defender, he fired across goal and inside the far post from a tricky angle. Spurs levelled when the ball bounced off of the head of a West Brom defender, allowing Roman Pavlyuchenko to find the net via the post with a low drive. They then went ahead midway through the second half as Jermaine Defoe collected a pass/clearance from Rafael Van Der Vaart, ran at goal and thumped a low effort into the bottom corner, however with nine minutes to go, Nicky Shorey found sub Simon Cox on the edge of the area and he curled a beauty inside the far post to earn the visitors a point.

WOLVES 1 (Fletcher 22)
FULHAM 1 (Johnson 80)

Wolves were denied a vital win after Andy Johnson scored a late equaliser for Fulham at Molineux. Wolves led thanks to a terrific far post header from Steven Fletcher from Karl Henry's cross but Johnson levelled just 18 seconds after coming on as a sub when he latched onto a poor defensive header, take a touch and drill home a low shot.
