PSV 3-2 DEPORTIVO

John de Jong (what a great name) smashed Robben's deflected pass in off the post. Depor dominated the rest of the half but it was PSV who took the lead early in the second, Robben profiting from the charitable defending that has become Depor's trademark. At 2-0 up, both teams would have been level on points and level on head to head encounters and I didn't want to have to look up the rules and explain what happens if such a scenario arises. Fortney substitute Luque saved me the trouble when he pulled a goal back on the hour mark with a FANTASTIC left footed strike from a free kick. After going close with another spectacular shot Luque set up Pandiani for the equaliser. John de Jong slid the ball into an empty net after King Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink (no he's not really a king but with a name like that should be) headed Kezman's cross against the bar.

Assists : Valeron, Luque

DEPORTIVO 3-0 AEK

Depor bounced back after their humiliating loss to Monaco by putting three past rubbish AEK. Hector fired a ball through a ruck of defenders before Valeron caught out Mihailidis in AEK's goal with a quickly taken shot. AEK forgot to play with centre backs, they must have, as Valeron hit a pass straight down the middle and Pandiani unselfishly gave Luque a third goal.

Assists : Victor, Pandiani

MONACO 1-1 PSV

Morientes headed in Rodriguez cross. The ref, who has to be some kind of complete ARSEHOLE, sent off both Lucius and Zikos for 'protesting'. Giant striker Vennegoor equalised soon after then Giuly was sent off for slapping Kezman on the back of head right in front of the ref AFTER Kezman had pushed him in the face.

Assists : Rodriguez, ? (fk)
Red Cards : Lucius 49 (PSV), Zikos 83 (Monaco), Giuly 89 (Monaco)

MONACO 8-3 DEPORTIVO

Manuel Pablo headed Giuly's raking cross straight to Rothen and he beat Molina with a fantastic lob. A FANTASTIC pass by Bernardi tore open Depor's offside trap, Giuly left the Depor defence in his wake, danced past Molina and tapped into an empty net. Prso headed in two goals in four minutes. His first from Rothen's corner and his second from Givet's header after some awful defending by Naybet. Tristan controlled Amavisca's cross on his chest, turned and shot under Roma, 4-1. Five minutes later Scaloni tapped into an empty net after the extremely unimpressive Roma parried Valeron's shot straight across the face of goal. Depor, who came back from 0-3 down to beat PSG 4-3 two years ago, almost, almost set the stage for the greatest comeback of all time but Roma flew off his line to clear as Tristan was about to connect with Amavisca's center. Two minutes Prso completed his hat-trick. A fantastic pass by Giuly, who just managed to vault Molina as he flew off his line, left Prso with an empty net, 5-2.

Two minutes after Munua came on for Molina he was picking the ball out of his net, he rushed off his line to headed the ball away from Giuly, it fell to Plasi and he sent a 30yd, first time lob sailing over Manua, 6-2. Prso became the third player in history (after Van Basten and Inzaghi) to score four goals in a Champions League match. A tremendous run by Rothen and a precision pass left the big man with a clear sight of goal and he finished superbly. Tristan beat two players with a dummy before lobbing the ball over the onrushing Roma and Cisse scored Monaco's 8th goal with a deflected shot after running half the length of pitch.

Gabrielle Marcotti on Talksport "How do you concede 7 goals in 50 minutes, even on Playstation?"

A new champions league high scoring record, beating the previous total set by PSV with their 7-2 win over Rosenborg.

Giuly is the best midget footballer in the World. In fact with Rothen he forms the best wing based attack in Europe, these two guys are fabulous. Watching this match was an absolute privilege.

VIVE LE FRANCE, VIVE LE FRAP!!!!!!!!

Assists : Rothen (ck), Givet, Amavisca, Giuly, Rothen, Valeron

PSV 2-0 AEK ATHENS

Bouma headed in Robben's corner and Robben just beat Kostenoglou to Kezman's center.

DEPORTIVO 2-0 PSV

Sergio scored with a deflected free kick. Hoflund gave away a penalty with a stupid foul on Valeron. Pandini converted.

MONACO 4-0 AEK ATHENS

AEK struggled with crosses all night. Chiotis went up for Evra's cross but only sent the ball as far as Giuly who fired into the bottom corner. Squillaci headed Rothen's corner against the bar, Morientes put away the rebound then headed in his second from another Rothen corner. Prso came off the bench to smash in a fourth.

Assists : Rothen (ck), Giuly

AEK 1-1 DEPORTIVO

Pandiani gave Depor a dream start with a header from Victor's cross. Depor surprisingly failed to threaten the AEK after that and in the second half Okkas and Ivic wasted glorious chances before Tsartas won them a deserved point when Molina let his shot slip through his hands.

Assists : Victor (ck), Moras

PSV 1-2 MONACO

Bouma messed up clearing a free kick allowing Morientes to head in at the far post. Cisse started and finished a slick passing move to add a second before Bouma gave PSV a lifeline with a superb free kick. The post and some wayward finishing denied PSV a share of the points.

Assists : Morientes, Park (won fk)
