PSG 1-3 CSKA MOSCOW

PSG failed to deal with Akinfeev's goal kick, Love held off a defender before whipping the ball low into the box and Semak poked the visitors in front. Pancrate slammed in a rebound after Pauleta's shot was parried by the 'keeper. Despite being reduced to ten men for handball CSKA regained their lead when Semak latched onto a loose ball before shooting into the corner. He completed his hat-trick in style, running 40 yards onto a pass, beating two defenders before curling the ball inside a post.

PORTO 2-1 CHELSEA

Duff's speculative shot slipped throw Nuno's fingers. Diego equalised with a stunning volley after Seitaridis' shot was charged down and McCarthy headed in the winner shortly after Lampard missed a chance at the other end.

20 October 2004

CHELSEA 2-0 CSKA MOSCOW

Two headed goals from set pieces. Boring, boring Chelsea.

Attendance : 35,000
Assists : Gudjohnsen, Duff (fk)

PSG 2-0 PORTO

Coridon, who has the worst haircut in the world (sort of a cross between an afro and loo brush) scored with a spectacular back heel volley, similar to the goal Robert scored last season. A minute later Pauleta swapped passes with Reinaldo and tapped in a second almost certainly sending the champions out at the first hurdle. Serves them right for sacking Del Neri.

Attendance : 42,000
Assists : Pichot, Reinaldo

29 September 2004

CSKA MOSCOW 2-0 PSG

PSG started well but it was the Russians who took the lead. Semak heading into an empty net after Letizi had saved from Vagner Love. Semak's run deep from his own half into the PSG box came to an abrupt end when Badian checked him. Letizi almost saved the penalty.

Attendance : 28,000
Assist : Semak (won pen)

CHELSEA 3-1 PORTO

I'm not sure what Smertin was doing starting the match but he scored a fine opening goal. Duff hit a beautiful lobbed pass to Gudjohnsen, he flicked the ball to the edge of the box and Smertin half volleyed into the bottom corner. Baia came out to meet Duff's free kick, he completely missed leaving Drogba to head into an empty net. Cech punched Carlos Alberto's shot straight to McCarthy, 2-1. Terry ended hopes of a comeback when he met Lampard's free kick with a spectacular diving header.

Attendance : 39,237
Assists : Gudjohnsen, Duff (fk), Lampard (fk)

14 September 2004

PSG 0-3 CHELSEA

PSG 'keeper Letizi was man of the match in this one, I'm sure he's Chelsea's next signing. He jumped for Lampard's corner, completely missed giving Terry a free header. A quick pass from Cole left Kezman clear on the break, Letizi came to the edge of the box to block and the ball rolled straight to Drogba, 0-2. Drogba put the seal on an emphatic display with a wonderful free kick.

Assists : Lampard (ck), Kezman (won fk)

PORTO 0-0 CSKA MOSCOW

How I laughed when Postiga ran clear through and shot against the post. Note to Porto's coach, play Luis Fabiano, you know it makes sense.
