Theo Walnut pounced on a loose ball as the Schalke defence fell over each other in trying to clear a through ball. Podolski, who is used to working with a target man (Klose) swung in a cross from the left and Giroud flung himself at the ball to head in his first UCL goal. Cazorla lost possession by falling flat on his face, Holtby volleyed on a cross and Huntelaar angled a shot into the bottom corner. Holtby horribly miscued a header and the ball spun to the back post for Farfan to equalise.

De Jong punished woeful marking to score twice from corners. Toure, who has been below par this season, took a defensive header off his chest then launching himself into the air and sent a scissor kick into the back of the net. Van Basten would have been proud. Magnificent goal. Balotelli headed on a goal-kick and Aguero sprinted past a defender to equalise.

A Lewandowski header sent Reus beyond Real Madrid high line and he scored with a spectacular half volley. Pepe headed Real Madrid level from a superb Ozil cross. Dortmund repeated their earlier trick, Lewandowski headed on a longball, Grosskreutz centred and Gundogan volleyed over Casillas. I'm not sure why UEFA recorded it as an own goal. Ozil equalised from a free kick when Dortmund's 32 year old goalkeeper (Weidenfeller) was too slow in getting across his line.
Real Madrid play just like a Bundesliga side with a stupid highline and second rate defenders. It seems no one can defend in this years competition.
