Shatskikh ran onto a pass with the Juve defence appealing for offside, he took
a shot from wide on goal and although Chimenti got a touch he couldn't prevent
the ball from finding the net. Salas turned sharply to capitalise on a terrible
blunder in the Kyiv penalty area. Fellow bench warmer Zalayeta played a
-two with Birindelli before lashing the ball into the roof of the net.

Given launched a free kick towards the Feyenoord box, Shearer helped on the
ball and Bellamy slotted past Lodewijks at the end of the first half. Dyer pressed
a defender into losing possession, crossed to the back post and Viana picked
his spot. Bombarda scored following a sustained period of Feyenoord pressure.
A terrible clearance by Jenas was sent back into the box and Lurling hit a
brilliant half volley low into the net. Another long ball gave Newcastle the points
and a place in phase two. Shearer helped on the ball, Dyer lost his marker with
a superb flick then tried to place his shot into the corner, Lodewijks saved,
Bellamy fired the ball back across goal, it hit Lodewijks and bounced into the
net.

Newcastle become the first team to qualify after losing their opening three
matches.

Thuram sent Camoranesi down the right, he whipped a cross to the back post
and Di Vaio headed in. Buffon made one of THE greatest saves of all time
from a Paauwe free kick, absolutely breathtaking. Nedved and Camoranesi
combined to give Di Vaio an easy second.

Kyiv took the lead in the opening minutes of the second half with a trademark
rapid fire counter attack. Belkevich knocked on El Kaddouri's throw in to Peev,
Peev cut inside Robert before slipping in Shatskikh with an excellent reverse
pass and he hit a brilliant first time shot past Harper. Speed equalised from
a corner when Reva failed to hold his ferocious header. Shearer was pulling
Husin's shirt so the ref gave him a penalty which he duly converted.

Juve are through and guaranteed first place in the group due to their superior
head to head record against Kyiv. Given they have nothing to play for and a
terrible away record I will be amazed if Kyiv blow this opportunity. Newcastle
can only go through if they defeat Feyenoord and Juve avoid
defeat against Kyiv.

Khatskevich tapped in from a deflected corner. Belkevich finished off Feyenoord
on the counter attack.

Having made a string of truly World Class saves Buffon parried Griffin's cross
into his own net then followed up his blunder with another breathtaking save
from Solano. Zalayeta had Juve's best chance but he smashed the ball against
the underside of the crossbar.

Del Piero scored with an absolutely sensational free kick and bagged a second
following a clever dummy by Trezeguet and a deflection off O'Brien.

It's a shit group. I think Juve will be found out in Phase 2.

Di Vaio scored his first Juve goal with a header from a Del Piero corner.
Nedved pressed Ghioane into losing the ball deep in his own half and
Del Piero was left with a tap-in from Camoranesi's centre. Di Vaio headed
in his second from Nedved's cross. Davids scored a brilliant fourth, he
dribbled past the Kiev defence before rounding the 'keeper and tapping
into an empty net. Nedved completed the rout with a stunning finish from
inside the box.

Pardo punished a terrible mistake by O'Brien by sending a volley screaming
past Given. Newcastle created and spurned a hat-full of chances.

Van Hooijdonk headed out a corner, Camoranesi bounced the ball off his chest
and sent a high volley dipping into the net. Brilliant goal. Van Hooijdonk levelled
with a trademark free kick. He's the best in the business.
