TWENTE 3 (Landzaat 22 Pen, Rosales 56, Chadli 64 fk)
TOTTENHAM 3 (Wisgerhof 12 og, Defoe 47, Defoe 59)

Wisgerhof played a safe backpass to his goalkeeper Boschker and he kicked fresh air to gift Spurs the opener. Landzaat levelled from the spot after Assou-Ekotto used his elbow to charge down Rosales' shot. The mistakes continued. Douglas tried to run the ball out of his box but was intercepted by Lennon and Defoe latched onto his reverse pass to score his first Champions League goal. Ten minutes later Rosales beat Gomez at his near post with a brilliant header on the run. Palacios mugged a defender and lumbered towards the box, Boschker failed to hold his shot and Defoe grabbed his second Champions League goal in double quick time. Chadli's stunning free kick earned Twente a share of the points and a UEFA Cup place at Bremen's expense. Tottenham top the group.

BREMEN 3 (Prodl 39, Arnautovic 49, Pizarro 88)
INTER 0

Bremen scored either side of the half. Prodl leapt unchallenged to head in Bremen's first from a corner. Arnautovic, branded a dipshit by Mourinho during last season's loan spell at Inter (not his exact words) got ahead of Cambiasso to flash in a volley at the near post. Great goal. Both teams hit the woodwork twice in a second half dominated by the Germans. Pizarro turned onto a pass to fire in the third from 25 yards.

Inter finish second. Bremen are out of Europe.

Even the players strike may not save the Benitez tumour, to absolutely no one's surprise it may be called off. Inter face Cesena before travelling to Abu Dhabi. Rumour was he would be replaced after the tournament. Now, who knows?

Attendance : 30,400
Assists : Frings, Almeida, Fritz

TOTTENHAM 3 (Kaboul 6, Modric 46, Crouch 79)
BREMEN 0

London derby hero Kaboul volleyed a Lennon centre past Wiese. Crouch headed down a cross, Modric initially miss controlled but recovered to score from close range. Walcott stuck a ball between a defenders legs en route to laying on the third for Crouch.

2 November 2010

TOTTENHAM 3 (van der Vaart 18, Couch 61, Pavlyuchenko 89)
INTER 1 (Eto'o 80)

VDV returned from suspension to give Spurs a dream start against the reigning Champions. He turned onto a Modric pass and angled a ball inside the left post. In one of those curious tactical blunders hate-worthy fat idiot Benitez makes from time to time Nwankwo replaced Muntari and Bale promptly tore him up as he powered down Inter's right side and centred for Crouch to score what was no doubt a highly gratifying goal against the coach that turfed him out of Liverpool. Eto'o, the ONLY player who has improved under Benitez (the others have gone backwards), danced past Hutton before curling a low shot into the bottom right corner. Bale got out his Rilza's again and this time smoked Lucio, he knocked the ball past him, ran into the space and rolling a perfect centre leaving Pavlyuchenko with a tap-in.

Attendance : 34,103
Assists : Modric, Bale, Sneijder, Bale

BREMEN 0
TWENTE 2 (Chadli 81, De Jong 84)

Chadli gave the Dutch Champions the lead within five minutes of the dismissal of Bremen captain Frings via a deflection off Prodl. Luuk 'don't call me Nigel' De Jong threw himself at a superb Bryan Ruiz cross to keep Twente's hopes of a last 16 place alive. Ultimately they'll have to settle for a UEFA Cup place.

Attendance : 30,200
Red Card : Frings 76 (Bremen)
Assists : n/a, Bryan

20 October 2010

INTER 4 (Zanetti 2, Eto'o 11 Pen, Stankovic 14, Eto'o 35)
TOTTENHAM 3 (Bale 52, Bale 90, Bale 91)

The Spurs defence were tracking Coutinho as he looked to play a one-two with Eto'o but Eto'o passed to Zanetti who had made a rare overlapping run and finished with a superb first time shot into the right corner. Gomes took out Biabiany with a stupid challenge in the box. Not sure it merited a red card though as the ridiculous Assou-Ekotto on the striker's shoulder. Eto'o took his customary violent penalty before Stankovic scored one of the goals of the season. With his back to play he flicked up Maicon's pass, Eto'o touched the ball back to him as he turned, he feigned to shoot, throwing off Huddlestone, then shot into the bottom left corner. Eto'o made it 4-0 from a Coutinho pass.

Spurs countered as Sneijder took a shot from the edge of their penalty area. Crouch passed to Bale who nutmegged Maicon before leaving old man Zanetti in his wake as he ran half the length of the field and beat a poorly positioned Julio Cesar. Lennon intercepted a stray Lucio pass and fed Bale who scored a carbon copy of his earlier goal. In injury time Lennon tackled(!) Santon, ran at the heart of the Inter defence and pulled back a centre for Bale to complete an extraordinary hat-trick.

Bale is borderline World Class. Spurs will have to fight very hard to keep hold of him.

Attendance : 43,000
Red Card : Gomes 8 (Tottenham)
Assists : Eto'o, Biabiany (won pen), Eto'o, Coutinho, Crouch, Lennon, Lennon

TWENTE 1 (Janssen 75)
BREMEN 1 (Arnautovic 80)

Janssen blasted the Dutch Champions into the lead following some horrific defending. The defending on the equaliser wasn't too clever either, Brama blew a chance to clear after Arnautovic and Pizarro combined superbly, the Austrian lashed the ball past Bremen's substitute goalkeeper Mielitz.

Attendance : 24,000
Assists : n/a, n/a

29 September 2010

TOTTENHAM 4 (der Vaart 47, Pavlyuchenko 50 Pen, Pavlyuchenko 64 Pen, Bale 85)
TWENTE 1 (Chadli 56)

Van der Vaart made amends for missing a first half penalty by trapping a Crouch pass on his chest, swivelling his body and volleying into the right corner. Rosales tripped Bale to concede a second penalty. Chadli, who sounds like a character from a lame American sit-com, scrambled in a loose ball after Spurs failed to clear a free kick. Spurs won a THIRD penalty for handball and Bale, who is potentially one of the best midfielders in the World, raced onto Douglas' awful headed clearance to score his first Champions League goal.

Attendance : 32,518
Red Card : Van der Vaart 61 (Tottenham)
Assists : Crouch, Bale (won pen), n/a, n/a, n/a

INTER 4 (Eto'o 21, Eto'o 27, Sneijder 34, Eto'o 81)
BREMEN 0

Cambiasso tackled Jensen releasing Eto'o who ran past the slow Bremen defence to score his first. Six minutes later he made it 2-0 from a Lucio longball. Eto'o put Sneijder into a gaping hole in the Bremen defence to give the Champions an unassailable lead. Bremen's defence is a joke. Biabiany won back the ball in his own half, gave it to Sneijder and he played a perfect through pass between two defenders to Eto'o who rounded Wiese and tapped into an empty net to complete his hat-trick.

Inter's second four goal victory under Benitez. Mourinho only managed it once (against Milan).

Attendance : 40,000
Assists : Cambiasso, Lucio, Eto'o, Sneijder

14 September 2010

TWENTE 2 (Janssen 20, Milito 30 og)
INTER 2 (Sneijder 13, Eto'o 41)

Sneijder scored after Twente goalkeeper Mihaylov parried a Milito cross. Fellow dead ball specialist Janssen equalised with a superb free kick then swung a corner in from the left and Milito, under pressure from the giant Janko, headed into his own net. Eto'o restored parity with a precise low drive from the edge of the box.

Attendance : 22,000
Assists : n/a, de Jong (won fk), n/a, Pandev

BREMEN 2 (Almeida 43, Marin 47)
TOTTENHAM 2 (Pasanen 12 og, Crouch 18)

Pasanen turned a Bale centre past his goalkeeper and just six minutes later Philanderer Crouch met a Van der Vaart cross with a looping header. Almeida got above mop haired midget Assou-Ekotto to head Wesley's cross past Cudicini and the absolutely tiny Marin completed the comeback two minutes into the restart with a brilliant right foot drive.

Attendance : 30,344
Assists : n/a, van der Vaart, Wesley, n/a
